Reviews for Shady Villa Hotel in Salado, TX

I was so excited to stay here because I love salado however I was so disappointed and canceled my stay. The grounds and lobby... are adorable and welcoming. Our first room looked like it wasn't cleaned entirely-- the glasses were dirty, crumbs on the table, and crumbs on the bed. I asked for another room which was granted and very much appreciative. However, the second room had doghair all over the day bed, the bed itself had dog and human hair, and there was a mouse dropping. The lobby and the workersthere were helpful and understanding, but I can't get over the low cleaning standards, especially for the price I waspaying. Edit: I'm attempting to upload pictures but it's not working. I'll upload when I'm able. Read more

Not well organized. The rooms are definitely not worth the prices. The "suite" is worth about $65 including breakfast. It is... difficult to park and walk around. The restaurant is not open for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The AC didn't work, the phonewas broken, the refrigerator was dirty, 2 terrible instant coffee in plastic cups. Some units are boarded up. We were late tothe wedding because our keys didn't work. Read more

We decided to get our town for our 13th wedding anniversary and made Salado our choice since it is just 20 minutes from home and... had so many little options for a nice night away. Shady Villa Hotel provided the most convenient option for us, and the room wasquiet and comfortable. The bed was open of the most comfortable beds we have experienced during travel, and we had a wonderfulsleep. Would highly recommend this hotel, it was very clean and so close to food and entertainment without having to driveanywhere. Read more

Had high hopes for the property as it's been uniquely updated with beautiful grounds. It may have been due to short staffing but... there was a general lack of hospitality with the exception of the wonderful young man at the pool bar. Was not informed uponcheck-in that there would be no housekeeping services over a two night stay which may have contributed to the presence ofcockroaches. There were some quality dishes at the on-site restaurant however nothing would have made up for the atrociousbehavior of the older woman whom I'm assuming was the manager. Truly terrible experience. They did a great job with the remodel! The Shady Villa is the anchor of downtown Salado! Cons: The AC struggled to keep up. The... room is at 75 during the day and gets down to 70 in the middle of the night. It was 100 outside so it?s not really the hotelsfault. The interstate is 200 yards away. The road noise is can be loud in the middle of the night. They do include white noisegenerators which helped. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Will definitely come back, but when it?s cooler. Read more

My daughter, granddaughter, and I stayed here on a girls? trip and enjoyed it so much that we booked another night on the way... home. Loved the comfortable bed, soft bedding, walk in shower with rain head, pool, beautiful trees and landscaping. We walkedto shops and restaurants nearby. We will definitely stay here again! Read more

This place feels like a step back in time. The pool is amazing, the rooms are adorable and the pool bar lounge area is brand... new. The new owners have done so many cool things. The negative reviews are knit picky of a small business doing their best. Theservice, the amenities and the grounds are gorgeous. We loved it so much that we?re pool members now. Read more

This place is what I assume Austin is was like before their big boom. A really cool vibe in the rooms, pool and a nice bar by... the pool. Beautiful trees and landscaping. The pool was lovely and the area is super cute. The staff seemed nice, but you couldtell they were stressed and understaffed (very common right now). They say they can do breakfast but 1) it?s very limited withjust tacos and basic coffee and 2) they said they?d take 1-1.5 hours to arrive, so I?d recommend a cute cafe nearby. Dinner wasnice though! Check in was at 3, but my room wasn?t ready until 3:30 (another sign they?re understaffed). Rooms were clean andhad a very cool vibe. Loved the patio. I will definitely be back. Read more
