I'm from a small town in the atmosphere here reminded me of home. Lots of real folks eating real food. My wife had the chicken... fried steak with tater tot casserole and a salad. Our daughter had the ribs and brisket two meat plate with french fries andcoleslaw. I devoured a medium rare 16 oz ribeye that was most excellent. Oh and I had two cold beers.... Everything about itwas just great. We appreciate this place. Tonight the fries were just so so. Our waitress forgot about us several timesincluding our to-go order of brisket which should take about 2 minutes but ended up taking about 20. That being said, this isone of my favorite spots and we're going to be back soon. Read more

Just finished eating at this one folks. Same three-topper with my niece. It's a seat yourself environment. This was our first... time dining in Salado, Texas. The young lady serving us was with it! Since the pandemic... customer service has fallen. She madeher rounds like clockwork AND when the sweet tea was out, she came back immediately and notified us! Many people might find thisto be rather mediocre BUT I can't count the number of times a server took it upon themselves to make a decision for me.????????I don't know how other Southerners feel but if you ask for sweet tea...you kinda want sweet tea. The meat and sidesselection are good. The ambiance is expected for a BBQ establishment. It seems like a lively place for events as well. Askanyone... I'm looking for the sausage to determine the make-or-break. The casing was too tough for me and the filling could haveused a smidgen more flavor. The ribs were delicious; fell right off the bone. Overall the food was good. I didn't take a pictureof my son's plate because he's Mr. Basic and had already dove in before I grabbed my phone. My niece's pulled pork was good. They also have a pretty good appetizer selection. Again... you can't beat the service and location (right off the highway). Gotake a look and let me know. Read more

This is a decent place for BBQ. You can't really ask for more but other produce a lot less. This is some standard run of the... mill, cookie cutter food. If you have the craving this place can cure it. Over all good place to eat. Staff was very attentiveand great bang for the buck! Enjoy! Read more

1st time here, and the food looked amazing. I had the BBQ baked potato. And my group had tasty looking plates. Will be back and... try more. I didn't notice the gratuity on the check, odd for a BBQ joint. I did tip the waitress. Read more

We attended a catered private party in the Outback pavilion. There was plenty of room, nice picnic tables, shade, and even a... jungle gym for kids. The stage looks great--will definitely have to come back for a concert, and for the steak, which we heardwas amazing. We were served a BBQ brisket and/or turkey meal with all the fixings. Cooked indoors on mesquite wood, the brisketwas tender and the turkey melted in your mouth. Finely chopped Cole slaw was perfectly seasoned. The homeade potato salad tastedwholesome and vinegary, and the pepper was liberal without overpowering. The fresh, fluffy bread baked in-house was good enoughto eat plain. I usually pass on the bread, but this time I ate the whole slice. Delicious baked beans finished the plate. Staffwere friendly and helpful. Will come again! Read more

Driving to Waco and just stopped to try their BBQ - excellent. I love BBQ and I smoke a lot of meats and I thought Johnny's... brisket was some of the best I have had - excellent smoke ring and just the right tenderness. Service was great. Read more

They were very busy with only one server. She provided exceptional attention to her guest working as best as she could. Even... with others getting impatient with her, she remained professional and apologetic. I am grateful for the people who continue towork in these times when so many use the current pandemic as a reason to not work. Everyone on the clock this day at Johnny'sworked their butts off...and I appreciate every one of them. Oh....and the food was fantastic! Very filling. Good flavor. Nicesize serving. The iced tea is refreshing! The Arnold Palmer hit the spot! Will come again! Read more
