Outstanding restaurant that is a gem for St Simons! Drinks are expertly crafted, best selection bar I have ever seen.... Phenomenal attentive staff that wants your experience to be great! Loved how the chef came and checked on us and offered hissuggestions! Food is on another level of great. The chef clearly worked years creating this unique and dynamic menu. We triedmany of the small plates and they just kept getting better and better! The raw bar is something special on its own, go with agroup so you can try them all! We loved our meal and our favorites were -hamachi crisp -Salmon belly melts in yourmouth -oysters with house made sauce -tuna tartare -Szechuan noodles -bo ssam (pork shoulder) was unbelievable. We had an amazing dinner, once again! We tried something different this time and was very impressed with our choices! Kazi made... an incredible drink; he’s very knowledgeable with his drinks and we appreciate the time he took. Grace is just the sweetestwaitress! We have been frequenting this fine establishment for over a year now and the experience never disappoints. We have tried just... about every entree and signature cocktail on their menu. The service is superb and the staff is friendly and professional. After spending a year dining at the best restaurants in London, England, we were pleasantly surprised to find a local restaurantto match that experience. Keep up the good work Dorothy’s! Read more

We really wanted to love Dorothy’s but the service just didn’t live up to the atmosphere and expectation of the chef being... from Michelin star restaurants. The food was good, but memorable? We remembered the wallpaper more, to be honest. I thinkthey’re relying a bit too much on the aesthetic and “for the gram” than focusing on creating returning customers.Completely understanding there is a server shortage, I do think it would be beneficial to train the servers they do have. Forinstance, they placed a steak knife facing towards my fiance and let plates& glasses stack up for 2 1/2 hours before we had toask if they Could move. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Dorothy’s on Saturday night. Our server Grace was very attentive, knowledgeable, and gave... us some great recommendations. The food and cocktails were all great. Last night, we gave up on finding a meal that wasn’t fried and touristy here in Jekyll Island. We knew it was closing time... soon for most restaurants around, and literally researched 20 restaurants just in the short drive from Jekyll and had acceptedour fate of cheap, fried food and warm beer. We drove a little out towards St. Simons and then we found this place! We didn’thave a reservation and just knew this restaurant wouldn’t get us in but fortunately, they had seats open at the oyster bar andI am more than grateful the server let us sit. They’re just a small cocktail and oyster bar in a small shopping centercoming out of Jekyll. These guys were genuinely impressive. Their servers were dressed well, knew the menu, knew how to selland pushed us on up sales with the most professional subtlety, and knew their beverage. Their steps of service were definitelywell trained. It was like an orchestra of service where one server would set down a water glass, then the next right behind themwith a plate and another server behind them with silverware and a menu. It was almost like a movie scene where you see themsetting the table around you. The cocktails and food were fantastic. The only critique I would have on the food is the shrimpceviche and shaved Brussels salad needed a touch more salt and the shrimp toast wasn’t my favorite. I can see where thechef’s mind was when creating this dish and it was full of smoky umami but I feel it needed some acidity to balance that. Bethat as it may, I can still appreciate the concept of the dish even though it wasn’t for me. There was nothing fine diningabout this restaurant, and the owners certainly didn’t spend 4 million dollars on every shiny toy in the build out. What theydid capture though was passion for service. Is Dorothy’s good? I will most likely never know! I am so disappointed in our experience there today! We were very excited... to get to try the cocktail and oyster bar after seeing how great it looked online. We arrived on time for our two o’clockreservation, ready for some cocktails! Hostess was nice and let us pick where we sat as it was not super crowded. The inside isadorable and I immediately snapped pics to send my friends! I was so excited! We were seated and waited a bit for our waitressbut she was closing out another table so we didn’t mind the wait. We ordered two different cocktails and the tuna tartare. Myhusband ordered the noodles and she informed us that they were out of them. No big deal, it happens but I do wish we would havebeen told when we sat down. The tuna came out within minutes and was delicious! After about 15 minutes though, we stilldidn’t have our drinks. I asked our waitress and she said they would be right out. About 5 minutes later, she returned andsaid they were out of the cucumber for my drink so asked if I wanted something different. She did not mention my husbands drink.I ordered something else and at this point we were almost done with the tuna and still did not have our drinks. Finally, ourwaitress asked another guy behind the bar to make our drinks and he did. Whew! Our waitress was nice and offered us oysters forour wait. I then asked the waitress if they were out of anything else so we’d know before ordering our lunch. She said no andwe ordered.
