Reviews for El Agave in St Peter, MN
Best Mexican that I?ve had in Minnesota. I came from the Lakeville area for a wedding in St. Peter and my sister and I were... blown away on how good this place is. Service was good too, busy during lunch but when our server came around he was droppingoff extra drinks, chips and salsa without asking. We are Mexican American from Los Angeles and this place felt like home. I livean hour away but I?d definitely return when I?m in the area again. Read more
I've been coming in here for years and have always appreciated the service and food...up until today. It's been a couple months... since we've been back so I was really looking forward to it. Wednesday night, exceptionally busy, but the servers are fast andattentive. When I dine out, I almost always order something different each time, but here, it's always the seafood chimichanga.I fell in love with it and crave it regularly. Understand when I write this, it's with love and disappointment. The servicehere has always been strong, and in light of my disappointment, the manager didn't charge me for the unfinished plate. So whythe low rating? Here we go: ? Chips and salsa. They switched to a bagged chip and either a commercially made or just very oldsalsa. Both were unpleasant and bitter. ? Soda. Just a simple foundation lemonade. But it was so watery, I was both thankful forthe diet from sugar and disappointed in the lack of lemon. I was thirsty and had two watery drinks. ? Price. The cost of my dishincreased by 20% since last time. Economics. I get it. ? Main Course. This is where it really hurt. As a former prep cook, Iunderstand the process and method behind many dishes. They create a seafood mixture hours beforehand so they can quickly preparethe dish. Nothing wrong with that. What was wrong was there filling was burnt and dry. The chimi shell itself was perfectlyfried, crispy, yet soft, and coated with white queso per usual. So how did the interior, which wasn't greasy or compromised bythe shell, manage to have rock hard shrimp and dried out pollock? The manager offered a replacement or refund, but proclaimed itwould be the same as always He's probably right this time because the mix was old and dried out, or it was precooked, thenrefried, to speed up there process. But it wasn't like this before. Not even close. I get it if your cook made a mistake andthey need to replace a dish with fresh mix, but don't treat your customer like a fool. The manage Read more

Sizable portions and very friendly service without being overbearing. Plenty of traditional dishes on the menu along with some... unique flavor combination specials. Dishes and sides were well seasoned and presented, and service was quick without feelinglike absolutely everything is hot and holding on a serving line in the back. Several sizes and flavors of margaritas to choosefrom which pair well with the menu. House made salsa was flavorful with a decent but not overpowering amount of heat to it. The quick 15 minute drive from Mankato is worth the trip. Read more

We really like this lace but had not been there for awhile. It was a Friday night around 6:30pm and the place was only about 1/4... full?.weird. It must be the ridiculous price hike, $16.50 for a burrito ???? and if you want more than one basket of chips it?san extra 2.95 per basket that goes for extra cheese sauce which is a teeny tiny compote cup as well as guacamole! I understandthe price of food has gone up but this is ridiculous. That explains the low amount of customers and we will be joining thecrowd! Go ahead and price yourself out of business?.disgusting.
