Reviews for Ruby's Ice Cream in St James, MO

Very friendly and fast service with a wide range of unexpected and fun flavors! The texture was super delicious. My only gripe... is that it was awfully expensive. $16 for two scoops in a small cone and then two scoops in a bowl. The vanilla ice cream couldhave used a bit more vanilla. But very fresh and truly homemade. I'd give a 4.5 star if I could! Read more

I loved my ice cream cone at Ruby's the other day. They have a lot of flavors, and the employees were helpful, kind, and didn't... rush my decision. I'll definitely be returning. Read more

Have been going there on our way to and from Branson & Lake of the Ozarks for 25 years. Saddly it's just not the same anymore.... Portions are half the size they used to be, but of course cost more. But that being said, we've still been dropping in whenwe're close because everybody still looks forward to it so much! So we stopped in on our way home from the Lake today (Sunday8/7) at 12:15 and they were closed! Their operating hours on their Google site show they open at 11am daily. There were 3 carloads of us hoping to get ice cream. We've always really enjoyed "Rubys" over the years because of the really good ice cream andthe small town feel. Also love supporting small town Missouri businesses! I know they changed ownership a few years ago andthey've made some nice new additions inside. Still very clean and friendly, but higher prices, smaller portions and now aguessing game on if they'll be open or not adds up to a regretfully sad ending to a much loved family tradition. Breaks my heartto write this review. Read more

This is definitely not the same ice cream as before. It taste like it came from Walmart! Last time we were here the ice cream... had a smooth/creamy texture and amazing flavor, that's not the case anymore. Two stars for the friendly staff with colorfulhair and the smell of the shop that hits you as soon as you walk in. Read more

All around terrific. No public bathrooms, but who cares? We had just gassed up down the street and stopped there. They have real... premium ice cream at Ruby's, not the soft serve stuff, and the pleasant server made a great chocolate milk shake that made mommahappy. I had never heard of a "cold press (coffee) float" and tried that. It's not root beer but it's not bad. Read more

On a recent road trip I had some stomach distress from some nasty fried food I had for lunch earlier that day. Stopped at... Ruby's for some ice cream to settle the stomach and that did the trick! Employees were friendly and courteous, and the icecream was very good and a reasonable price. Read more

Great little place to stop for ice cream when traveling on I-44. Friendly staff, good hand-scooped home made ice cream. Good... selection of flavors including the classics. I will say, the colors are quite vibrant. Don't know if that's a good thing, sincewe stuck to more classic flavors. Read more
