I am half Japanese, lived in Japan for 11 years so I know how Japanese food is supposed to taste. We always go to Izakaya or... Akebono but my husband wanted to try something different. The meat was so greasy, the meat which should of been sliced smallinstead of huge slices and way too much salt, bit into a bone. Disgusting Read more

I recently ordered take out from this restaurant — a chashu don and spam musubi. The chashu don was one of the single worst... meals I have had in YEARS. I'm not exaggerating — that bad. For $15, I received 5 paper thin slices of pork... But not justany pork, and not even good chashu! No, I received extremely undercooked, overly fatty, and egregiously salty paper-thin slices.I suppose it is some comfort that the slices were so thin since if they were thicker I would probably have had to go to thehospital for a sodium imbalance after the single bite I took. The spam musubi is a quintessential Japanese dish. Thisrestaurant makes it seem more like a quintessential Japanese torture method. The spam was undercooked, extremely greasy(probably cooked on the same surface as the pork), and the rice used was both of poor quality and in too much quantity.Seriously, the rice falls apart like dust, but they put so MUCH of it that ultimately, after half of the rice falls off whileeating, you can feed an entire family with your leftover rice! I suppose the quality of my food is because I ordered somethingother than ramen from a restaurant named Ramendou. That being said, I have never had an issue with non-ramen items at any otherramen restaurant. I am all for giving a restaurant a second chance, but I'm not sure I'll be doing that any time soon. I'm not sure why there's no Daikokuya in Sacramento like we do in SoCal, but if you're in Sac Town and looking for ramen, this... place could be the closest you could find. Had their Signature Ramen and the broth had decent flavor. Nice and quick servicetoo. Could just be the time of the day when I was there, but i was well attended to. Would love to come back to try other thingson their menu. (Parking is free for an hour according to the sign posted in the parking lot). I spent over $30 because i orderedanother dish to go and also had a hot Thai tea. Read more

We have been getting Ramendou takeout since they opened and the food has been consistently delicious. However, they are pretty... conservative with their ingredients (namely, proteins). The veggie dishes usually only come with 1-2 pieces of tofu and tonightmy masaman was missing it entirely. Also, when expecting several shiitake mushrooms, I got only a single half a cap. This isdespite a $15 total after 10% tip. We'll keep supporting due to the quality and consistency of what you do get, but nothingstinks more than getting home to find part of your meal missing.
