Wow, great lunch today with my wife. We have been waiting to come to GUMBO KING, and it was well worth the wait. Very friendly... and welcoming, the service was very good. The hostees and serve were helpful with the menu choice . We ordered the KINGS CHICKENDINNER. ???? and QUEENS FISH DINNER. Both were very good, great portions, the side are excellent. Try the greens ???? very good,my wife's candied yams were great. Check out the full bar. We will be back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND, YUMMY FOOD. And the corn breadwas so good. Read more
We went here to watch the NBA game ???? 6. There were at least 4 tv's. We sat near the biggest one. The hostess was great. Chef... Tom came out and greeted us. In fact both owners were there working their business and interacting with customers. Theatmosphere was great! The food was delicious! This place is absolutely amazing. My fiance and I walked in, and was immediately greeted with a welcome in King and Queen.... Totally grabbed our attention. The drinks were amazing. And the food, baby let me tell you about the food! I almost killedmyself, just looking at the menu it was overwhelming in a good way. I wanted to order everything on the menu. I ordered the crabmeal with the two sides, fried rib dinner and a 3 piece chicken dinner. Two berry margaritas.. KING HENNEY, AND A SHOT OFPATRON. everything was amazing!!!!!!! This is our new spot. If you love soul food, comfort food,real black food than this is thespot. I spent $ 200 and would gladly do it again. The prices were good. Customer service was great! Very cool vibe, we stopped by one Friday night, we were greeted a wonderful queen who explained the menu to us, she was very... attentive, we chatted with her as we were shown our table. Our server was a very sweet young, I?ve forgotten her name, but shewas great! Our food came out fairly quickly, I had the gumbo fries, just a tad too salty for my taste, but still okay. My friendhad the gumbo wings, which were delicious, with a side of red beans and rice. The only thing that we suggested to our server wasto let guests know that there is a cash vs card price when paying, not a major thing, just good to know and helpful to have inwriting somewhere, perhaps the hostess could add that in while explaining the menu. The food was great and the service was phenomenal. I ordered the fried ribs over rice with a side of fettuccine and mac n... cheese. The ribs were tender and well seasoned. The fettuccine and mac n cheese did not disappoint. I can't wait to go back andtry other things on the menu. I saw a few gumbo wings come out that looked amazing. The servers are attentive, polite, andknowledgeable about the menu. The food is worth the price. I highly recommend trying this place. Read more
The food was very tasty! I had the three fried chicken wings with real mashed potatoes and greens. The cornbread was a bit... sweeter than I like but it worked. The greens had a nice spicy heat to them. Read more
I went in today and was not very happy with the results. Waitress was very good and up front but I can see a number issues going... on. Got there at 3:15 and didn't receive our food until 4:30. She stated that there was a concerns in the kitchen going on. Sheoffered addition sides to help compensate but that didn't help me. She also stated that the cook would be out to talk to us (mywife and myself) but that didn't happen either. I find that there was no structure going on from the kitchen. I know they arenew and we wanted to support them. I had the waitress box our food up so we could take it home. When I got home the pork chopswere over cooked. Not very happy with my experience today. I wanted to eat at 3:30, not 5:30? Never did speak with management?They were to busy to address our situation? Hopefully somebody will address our situation. Not a happy camper! Read more
Gumbo King has become my favorite restaurant in Sacramento. Such a variety of foods and everything is amazing. From the moment... you walk in you?re greeted and everyone is so friendly. The whole vibe of the restaurant is like nothing you will everexperience in Sacramento. The drinks from the bar are all custom and delicious. At Gumbo King you look around and everyone issmiling laughing it really is just an amazing experience. The food is always fresh and I have tried almost everything on themenu. My favorite is the Gumbo Wings. And now they have Brunch. The Red Velvet Waffles and Chicken is so good. The owners areincredibly kind and they will come check on you make sure everything is to your liking. I really just love this restaurant. Read more
