Dear Michelin, I have considered you a trustworthy guide to exceptional dining for the majority of my 54 years on the planet. ... Tonight, that trust has been compromised. My fiancé made reservations this evening for Binchoyaki Sacramento based on her“hit list” of Michelin blessed recommendations for 6:15. We arrived at 6 and standing outside met Cathy, the hostess. Wehad reserved the bar and walked in to the restaurant and saw the 2 open chairs at the bar but were told to check in with Cathywho told us that we would be seated at 6:15 like our reservation. The patio was 50% full and another couple came a few minuteslater with a 6:30 reservation and consistently, she told them that they would be seated at 6:30. At 6:15 she informed us thatmasks were mandatory and although I am a double vaccinated healthcare employee I agreed to mask to our seats at the bar. Overten patrons inside including the bar were unmasked and I took my mask off after being seated and she said that we needed to maskuntil we were served. There were many non consuming unmasked patrons inside and I asked if that was reasonable and recommendedwe leave to my fiancé when she shared that it would be $25 per person to leave at that point. Stunned I agreed to stay just tosee what the extent of this madness would expose. I asked what law existed now dictating masks and she responded that I was“scaring her” and should stop. I stopped. Our server was great. I didn’t get her name but she said our food would beamazing and explained the menus. Unmasked we ordered a sake and a beer and put together our order. After ordering Cathyreturned to us and said that I needed to stop looking at her because it was making her uncomfortable. I had not looked at herat all. At this point I was shocked and confused. We placed our order and subsequently watched the staff prepare the grilleditems. I saw 3 different people handle raw meat and either open the refrigerator in the open prep area or switc Read more
Skewers drew me here, my family and I had high expectations as there were plenty of good reviews on Google and Yelp. But some of... the skewers came overly charred, and the mazemen was way too salty with little seafood flavor. We sat on the inside, where therewere flies bothering us throughout dinner. Cleaner setting, better service, and more delicate foods would be expected at thisprice point. Read more
Ordered a few yakitori. This is my second time here and I didn't expect the higher price. None the less ordered a few sticks for... a buddy and I What's great is that they grill in front of you. They cook it over coals. My complaint is that you don't reallytaste the charcoal which should add on to the flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food coming out of it still tasted good. Got a fewmushroom sticks and you have to try the chicken cartilage. Read more
This was my first time at this restaurant and I really enjoyed my dining experience here. Who says there is no place " to eat"... in Sacramento? I beg to differ. Everything the server recommended was really good (Thanks Shari!). From the izakaya skewersto the Okinawan ramen. The only thing I really didn't care for was the Soboro don. Lots of sweet egg with ground chicken overrice. Too sweet for my taste buds! You MUST order the Krispy rice when you are here! Loved the tangy, light spicy bites. Thegrilled Hamachi was my 2nd favorite thing to eat here. Not too soft or overly cooked. I had a awesome meal here and willdefinitely be back! Made a reservation and it's not in what I would say the best of neighborhoods. Indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be found and not too difficult. Make sure you make a reservation! Read more
