I had whole belly clams- they were good, spouse had scallops- they were very good. We both had ice cream for dessert- chocolate... chip and fudge walnut , neither one had much flavor, very unremarkable. Better off buying it in grocery store. Service isexcellent though!! Read more
Value find in Rye,NH! Lunch total: $42 plus tip Open: Seasonal Seating: Indoor and Outdoor Parking: Off-street Bonus Stop: Fort... Stark, Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse, Great Island Common, New Castle Beach, and Pierce Island are cute places to walk, sit, andtake pictures. All within 3 miles. Order: Two orders of fish tacos on special ($11 an order?! Unheard of!), Side order ofwaffle fries, 3 bean salad, coleslaw, lemonade, ice tea, and 2 free waters. Pros: Tacos were a steal at this price, fresh, andlightly fried perfectly. Served over a dry cabbage slaw, pickled red onion, and flavorful crema. Pro tip, throw a couple scoopsof the side coleslaw on the taco to add bonus flavor and moisture. Three bean salad was flavored cowboy caviar style; a sweetsurprise and delicious pairing for the fried tacos. Great outdoor space with picnic tables outback to enjoy a Sunday afternooncatching up with a friend. Will return for food and must try the ice cream next time. Cons: Sides are separate so you can gofrom cheap to moderate price quickly, but truly for the Seacoast and especially Rye these prices are beyond fair. What a great local experience. It's known for its ice cream but the food and service was outstanding too. Great lobster roll and... even had gluten-free buns! I had the sorbet for dessert and it didn't disappoint! Had chunks of real fruit in it. Everyone elseloved their ice cream. Read more

We went here for ice cream several times over the summer. The large outside seating area is shady and pleasant. There's often a... queue but it moves fast. Flavors rotate pretty often. I appreciate that they hang up their allergen menu so you can skim itwhile you wait. Locals will endlessly argue about Lagos vs Ice House: they are both great, and they both help a lot of kids withsummer jobs, but for me the ice house wins because the set-back garden is much more pleasant to spend time in.
