Reviews for Banana Bay Restaurant in Rowland Heights, CA
The owners must have given up on the place. Below average food, tap water served, poorly made Thai condiments, but the place... has potential if a new owner with vigor and hope was to step in. The restrooms are always dirty (very unacceptably bad), pleasehave someone clean it. My second time here in 7 years. The servers were polite, but the resources are lacking. Need new chefs. Update the condiments to better represent good Thai food. We all know how great Thai food can be... Read more
I?ve been going here for years and it?s one of my top 3 Thai restaurants of all time. I started off with Thai ice tea, chicken... pad Thai and it was phenomenal! I also ordered their crispy hainam chicken which I used to order. I also got the fried squid, &Tom yum soup with chicken(solid flavor overall.) I highly recommend this spot for all your Thai food needs! Read more
The atmosphere and food at Banana Bay restaurant are good, but the service is confusing and lacking. During our last visit, we... we're told we could not be helped when we walked in, but a lot of employees would continuously walk past us us. Although therestaurant had been opened for hours, it seemed as if they had just opened and were not prepared to serve people yet. About 20minutes later, a cashier finally showed up, only to let us know that we couldn't be seated until we ordered, at which point theystared handing out menus to everyone who had been waiting. We ordered hastily, paid, were given a number, and told to go findand sit at the table matching the number. We also found issues with our inital order, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle ofgetting it fixed. This way of pre-ordering and paying upfront might work with groups of 2 to 4 people, but for a larger grouplike ours, it made the experience feel rushed and uneasy. This type of service is expected at a fast food place, but not at anactual restaurant. Read more
From eating dinner here with my family as a kid... to drinking here with friends at the bar? I never expected this RH staple to... have such versatility. My friend recommended this place since they have a CRAZY happy hour menu at the bar! Most cocktails, bombs, and shots are just 2 for $10! SUCH A GOOD DEAL. Since the pandemic started, they have been doing happy hour all day, everyday! You can also take cocktails home as takeout. I recommed the Hello Kitty, Green Tea shots, and the Thai Tea Twister(it's strong!). Food wise, not bad! I definitely enjoyed the food a lot more when I was a kid... The portions are big! Two ofmy friends even shared a pad see eaw. The beef is really chewy, so I recommend getting another protein when you order noodles orfried rice. Maybe pork or chicken instead. Due to COVID, all other dining ware is plastic and disposable. Besides the drinksfrom the bar... they give you paper plates, cups, utensils, etc. You basically have takeout containers, but in a restaurantsetting. Pretty strange, but I guess it's a efficient if you have leftovers? LOL Read more
Average Thai cuisine based restaurant. The food felt recooked/frozen. There might be some fast moving menu items that might be... fresh but some felt thawed and recooked. The decor is regular, restaurant is too big and has ample seating. Service is above parand efficient. Read more
So this restaurant captured my attention with all the cool blow ups they put on the roof of their restaurant and fancy outdoor... decorations. I finaly tried it a week ago. Entering the restaurant we walked through really nicelly light and decoraded entrywhich was nice. Then we walked through the door and stood on the line to order. I had read a prior review and was preparedthat we had to order when you arrive at the counter. The indoor had a Koi pond and some decorations on the shelves that neededsome dusting. Not crazy about how they handle their ordering. The atmosphere is very very casual, so do not try to impress afancy date here. At the end, the food was good and priced very well. Next time I will have to try their drinks at the barwhich you have to order seperately from your order at the counter. Read more
Came with a group of friends after some drinks at around 9 PM on a Saturday. There was a line out the door just to place orders... for food. Once we sat, the food came as they were prepared and was ready about 30 minutes apart from the first to lastdish. Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - ordered a hainan chicken and Thai tea to share. The rice was delicious as was the sauce butunfortunately the chicken was a bit dry. The Thai tea was quite sweet but hit the spot for us Ambience: 4/5 - had Halloweendecorations up still and was fun to sit around and enjoy Service: 4/5 - lots of customers and potentially not enough servers. They seemed extremely overwhelmed but were nice and helpful. They did get confused on orders between us and the table next tous. Value for price: 5/5 - large serving of food and pretty good in taste Read more
