What a great steak. This is a real steakhouse with reasonable prices in comparison to Roadhouse or Outback. They do their own... butchering, inch thick steaks. A real Texas steak house. Great beer selection, beer was ice cold. Friendly staff. All of thefood was outstanding. Next time I need to try the onion rings saw those come out to another table but I was already stuffed.It's worth the drive. Edit: I had to check and my steak leftovers is over an inch thick. Having had heard such rave reviews about the place I had high hopes . It's super friendly atmosphere and warm inviting feel are... welcoming. The place is charming in a quiet southern way. We were quickly greeted by our server. ???? Salad bar left a littlesomething to be desired. Very few choices. But what was there looked fresh and colorful. I will definitely make a return visit. We arrived as the church crowd was leaving and departed as the pseudo motorcycle crowd... made their entrance. Asked the young waitress if the fried shrimp was any good and she said it was her favorite. No lie, thefried shrimp is really GOOD! Red Lobster and other chain seafood restaurants need to uncover Lowake's secret ... seriously. The chicken fried steak was the BEST ever, according to my husband. He enjoyed the sweet creamy gravy, and the fact the steakwas not overwhelmed with batter (too much of a good thing is often not good). We had our doubts about the salad bar at first,but we were pleasantly surprised. Liked the pickled jalapeno okra and the banana pudding with real bananas. Worth the drive. I've had steak all over the country, and this is one if my favorite places. There are other steakhouse... options, and I use the term loosely, in San Angelo, but none of them hold a candle to this place. Don't waste your time ormoney going elsewhere. Read more
