China Wall was our favorite place for the past 15-20 years. From the quick service to tasty dishes, we dined or did take out... regularly. In the past couple years, we haven?t dined there as often by did take out as recent as a couple months ago. Afterhaving a craving for their food, we decided to dine-in last night. We were the only customers until another person arrived soonafter us. We had prompt service, which is usual, and our waiter was very friendly. Our food was brought out ratherquickly?again, a norm for China Wall. As we started on our entrees, we noticed two of our three entrees, which were SesameChicken (SC), didn?t taste as usual. We all tried the two dishes of SC and all agreed they didn?t taste like SC and had anunusual taste. Told our waiter and asked if we could get a different entree?he stated ?yes? but asked us to explain to hisboss, who is one of the female owners. We explained the situation to which she immediately accused us of already eating half ofthe entree, which was not true?no more than four very small pieces were eaten. She had a very accusatory attitude, as if wewere trying to eat for free, and was argumentative as we tried explaining our concern. She allowed us to pick a different entreebut only a half portion was given to us. The other person in our party, who also ordered Sesame Chicken, felt so uneasy andembarrassed by the owner?s attitude, she felt too berated to switch out her entree so she ate her sides only. The third entreeof General Tso?s also tasted differently than usual and similar to the other two SC entrees only spicier to which the ownerinformed us Sesame Chicken and General Tso?s are made with the same sauce, which we found a little odd. My family and I absolutely LOVE this place! The manager/owner is very sweet! She treats us like we are family. We live about... 40minutes away and because they provide such excellent service, atmosphere, and food, we will say ?No? to other restaurantoptions that are closer to our residence and drive the 40minutes just to eat here. Already Overpriced & they will nickle and dime you for everything. Ordered take out because they charge a 20% surcharge to dine... in... The posted sign says this is due to the Covid Pandemic. Seriously? It's late October 2022, not May 2020! We were actuallycharged an extra $1.10 for our take out containers.... We weren't given an option... If we didn't want to pay for the containerwhat would they put the food in? We also didn't get any utensils or fortune cookies which generally are standard when orderingChinese takeout but we were afraid to ask for anything extra since we already overpaid... Had my birthday party here and it was one of the best. The Owner worked with me on price and was able to fit my budget. Food was... delicious and the karaoke equipments made everyone sound great! All my friends told me it was a huge success. Would recommend toanyone looking to celebrate. The staff and Owner made sure everything was prepared and on time. Will definitely be going back! I?ve been coming to this restaurant with my family ever since I was a kid and I have always adored it! I have plenty of friends... who have also been coming to this stop with their family for many years! This has always been one of my favorite restaurants tofrequent for the past 20 years and counting. The dinner special is isuch a steal! It?s always my go to order, it?s a ton of foodfor 15 bucks! You can easily spend $30 or more at fast food drive thru?s which is ridiculous. The food was okay, but I won?t be coming back because of their business practices. China Wall says that they charge customers an... automatic 18% gratuity because they want their staff to be taken care of. However, they are the employer. It is their job totake care of their employees, not the customers. No one should ever be forced to tip unless there is a large party. Tips shouldonly be given if good service is provided. Period. They should pay their employees well instead of forcing customers to tip. Read more
