First of all the food is not great and the reception is also not good in the restaurant. When we ordered Medhuvada 4 piece togo,... we got 3 in the box after 1 hour of ordering. We opened the box thinking that how can a small box fit 4 vadas and we happened tosee 3 vadas. When we talked about this at the reception after paying the bill, the receptionist asked us to wait for sometime. We waited more than 30 mins and still the receptionsit didnt care about us. We didnt wanted to waste more time and we walked outfrom the restaurant with a very bad first time experience. Even the food tasted bad that our wait is not worth it. I wouldn?tgo or order from this restaurant again. Read more

Staff was very kind and the food was great. Although there weren?t many people handling the tables and take out orders, you... could tell that they were working very hard to fulfill all the orders that were coming in! The tiffin food we ordered was theexact ?taste of home? I was hoping for from a South Indian restaurant. I may have liked things to be a little bit more spicy, but that?s a personal preference and so regardless of that, the experience was overall very positive for us and we plan toreturn anytime we miss food from home. Don?t let the picture fool you because this fried rice is absolutely bland. I ordered egg and paneer fried rice. The rice is... very dry and had no flavor. It?s like eating plain rice. There?s barely any panner and vegetables. There isn?t any egg eithermixed into the rice. Even though the rice is yellow, it doesn?t have any egg flavor. I?m pretty sure they added food coloring tomake the rice yellow. Don?t waste your money and order from another restaurant. Read more

Went here on Saturday for lunch. Apart from us, there were 3 other tables with people. Rest of the place was deserted. Last... visit , place was busy. We wondered why and it became obvious. Chennai Cafe is a brand in Dallas and we did not bother readingreviews before we went this time. Poor service; waited a while 10 minutes before someone took our order. Ordered a non vegthali, that took about 15 minutes to show up...we also ordered mutton varuval and appam..that was 30 minutes later...in an emptyrestaurant! Food quality and portion sizes have gone down. Microscopic servings of yogurt and sweet in plastic disposable cups.See pics...the mutton dish was good compared to the rest of the orders. Appam was good, hence the 2 ????. This stuff is notgoing to work in Austin where there are better choices now. Not going back. Read more

Great goat, really good Nan. Very authentic feeling. Decent amount of food for price. Next time I will ask them to make it... spicier than they normally serve it but I could at least feel a little heat. Room temperature water made me feel like I wasback in Bangalore. Will defintely be going back in the future. Read more

Delicious and true Indian food. Medu vada, Idli and Samosa were really good and will make you feel you are in India. Lassi is... good too. You get free snacks. They have pan after the food. One less star for slow service. You might need to wait over 12-15mins for food. And other star for less friendly staff. Seems you need to pay them to smile and be kind. Read more
