I really wanted to enjoy this food. Aside from getting my initial order wrong, the food was bland and unexciting. The macaroni... side was a simple mayo mixed with macaroni and nothing else. The Slipsidah sandwich was drenched in an excessive amount of sauceto the point where it was nearly inedible. The apricot sauce made the guava chicken tasty, but the portions were tough and chewythigh meat which made me want to gag at times. The noodles had a funny smell and taste. The masubi was palatable, but none ofthe toppings were inventive or noteworthy (for example the big island crunch was ground down furikake and flavorless). I wouldnot return and, although I love supporting local, I can?t justify spending my hard earned money to back this establishment. Read more

This was the first time trying Hawaiian food for me. I didn?t know what expect and I loved it! The place itself is very nice, a... family-owned cafe. I had the shaved ice with coconut and guava flavors. I never thought that shaved ice can taste so good! WhenI?m in LA again, I?ll definitely come back Read more

Ordered a 2 item combo, shaved ice, and spam masubi. Combo was pretty good portion, taste, and good price. The pulled pork and... chicken were really good. The ice cream and shaved ice was pretty tasty as well. I was disappointed with two things, the spammasubi and service. Spam masubi was $6 for two pieces, they were big but mostly rice, see picture. There was a tiny slice ofspam in the masubi which made me not want to buy again. The service was not so pleasant. I asked the young lady for hot sauceand she seemed annoyed by my request and had poor attitude. I needed an extra set of utensils and napkins but after the shortexchange about the hot sauce I had with her I didn't want to interact with her again. Maybe next time someone else will havebetter attitude towards simple customer requests. Food, good. Service/attitude, need improvement. Read more

Had the loco moco and the pork fried rice and it was delicious. Some of the best Hawaiian food I have ever had. And too top it... off the shaved ice shake was incredible. Seems like a honest family owned business ran by good people! Read more

The food here was good and the hostess was very friendly. As of this posting there is only "to go" orders, but there is a... seating area out front. I tried ordering over the phone, but couldn't get through for over 20 minutes....so decided to just goand order in person. Be prepared to wait in line a while (I was able to see that one member of their staff was taking phoneorders back to back to back). This may be my one criticism...that they need more help....but let the record show, they are busybecause it's good! Our first visit and we weren't disappointed. We did the Loco Moco (large portions) and it was good. But thedesserts! The Kona coffee chocolate chunk cookie is the bomb! And although it was a first for me...the butter baked mochi bruleewas a quick favorite! It was too much food to try the chocolate banana bread on this trip....but you can bet we'll be back forit and other items on the menu! Read more

???????? USA (Hawai'i) Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles: Just like reaching for the most colorful candy in the checkout... lane of the grocery, the LavaLava ($5.99) stood out from the top of the list like a shiny object. The filtered ice is toppedwith sugarcane and coconut syrups, then a nice molten flow of dark chocolate and strawberry syrup. A big scoop of vanilla icecream rests on the top and chips of hard chocolate surround it all. It easily succeeded in making a hot weather visit get on theto do list. Read more
