I've come to Mandarin Express for 20 years. They used to make amazing food. Unfortunately, now. This is some of the absolute... worst food i've ever had the displeasure of tasting. My family ordered an assortment of food, 2 people actually BARFED becauseof how absolutely Disgusting this food is. It saddens me dearly to say this but... DO NOT EAT HERE FOR YOUR OWN SAFTEY. This hole in the wall is one of my favorite Chinese food restaurants in the DMV area. The gala tofu is the perfect combination... of sweet and savory as well as crisp and soft. I cannot seem to find this dish anywhere else that has this combination. Therechili oil is also a great balance between sweet and spicy. Definitely check the place out! Read more

this place is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Rockville - I’ve been going here regularly with my family for over 15... years. there’s usually no wait on a weekday night and it’s pretty easy to find parking. This place does offer the classicChinese restaurant dishes but the real gems are the ones listed below. here’s what to get: 1) the crossbridge noodle soup(????) , cooked (you can order it “raw” with piping hot soup and put the raw ingredients in yourself, but I prefer it tocome out cooked). This noodle soup is so comforting and delicious, and filled with a ton of good ingredients like fresh veggies, shrimp, meat, and tofu skin 2) crispy sweet and spicy tofu (????) , it’s fried to order and super crispy when it comes out.delicious. 3) the rice cakes with mustard green and pork (???) I love rice cake and the way they make it is super chewy andumami and delightful. Recently I also tried the thinly sliced chili oil bean curd (?????) which was super refreshing and slicedso so thinly (how do they do that!!) and the seasonal Chinese mahogany with egg (????) Both were ????????. Read more

Some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. My grandparents like it for some reason and I ate some of their leftovers. I... tried kung pao chicken and I think chicken chow mein. I took a bite of each and spit it out it was so bad. It had almost acardboard taste. I don’t know how they could serve this food to people. With so many options for Chinese in this area, avoidthis place. Read more

I have been a customer for over 6 years. Never had any problem until today. Overall the food is pretty good for it... price. However, their business practice is pretty dishonest because the owner does make up the price for market price items toovercharge you….. I read few negative review and they had the same problem. Long story short, I ordered 2 Cross-bridge noodles( ~$13/ each ) plus a stir-fried bean sprout ( market price ) and it costed me 46.50 + tips, which mean the bean sprout costs~$20…. Which is SUPER expensive for a vegetable dish. My advise to you : Do NOT order market price item… if do , be prepareto be overcharge. Read more

Sadly I am unable to select 0 stars. The "manager" of this establishment polices the parking lot from her entrance. The shopping... center is privately owned and does NOT have a partnership with a towing company. She will threaten to have your car towed buther signs are from Amazon without contact information etc if you were to need to locate a towed car (refer to photo) She triesto regulate parking for patrons at other restaurants in the same shopping center. She proceeded to come outside screaming inregards to her illegitimate parking restrictions, trying to be kind I went to search for a new spot. Unfortunately there werenone were available, I went ahead and parked in a vacant spot that did NOT have a "sign" in front - this was second from theleft with the brick facade. She proceeded to come outside (again) into the lot to body check me ensuring I was not able to walkinto the restaurant next door. She then personally kicked my car, (front right bumper) multiple times. As this occurred anotherpatron shared that the same women had keyed her car moments prior. Sadly, Montgomery County police were called as the womenproceeded to push me and continue to kick my car. Once the police arrive she then proceeded to no longer speak English. What sheis doing is NOT legal, she is not able to police parking spots as she does not "rent" spaces as she says. I highly recommendrecording her if you are to encounter her as Montgomery County police have received multiple calls regarding her behavior. Sadlyif it is not documented it is a "he said, she said" situation. I don't even know about the food, she was enough to make me notwant to even drive down that road again. Read more

I don’t usually review places. If the food is good, great. Life goes on and I mentally file it away in my hand as “worth... it” or “never coming back”. Why the five stars? Because the current rating doesn’t do this place justice. It’sdefinitely a solid four plus though. We got the fried tofu, fish in wine sauce, some stir fried peppers with pork(amazzingggggg), and a noodle dish. All the while eating our food, I was enviously looking at the table next to us with a plateof steaming plump dumplings. Definitely will try them next time. It looks like a mom and pop shop, with a gaudy Americanizedname... but the food is good. (And at an agreeable price too!) Read more

This is one of my favorite Chinese eateries for nearly 20 years. True, it's a hole-in-the-wall place not suitable for first... dates, but it has one of the best Yunnan Rice Noodles (????) in the area. Many other dishes on the Chef's Special and seasonaldishes on the wall are quite good, too. I recommend the Deep-Fried Tofu and the Calamari (not pictured), and the Pig LiverStir-Fry if you're into "bizarre" foods. Read more
