I recently tried island pride and will say that it was a good experience. Customer service was great, food portions were... awesome. Only problem was, the food lacked flavor. The spice from the jerk sauce was most def in the food, but the salt justwasn't there. Other than that, check them out yourself. I do recommend the beef pattie and coco bread. Very filling. their food is good but their curry chicken didn?t have potatoes & only came w/ 1 carrot & i felt some type of way abt tht... -.- update: I had their ?jerk chicken? & it was chicken tenderloins -.- the jerk sauce was gross tastes like the the greatvalue gentrified bottle they sell in the store and the chicken was super dry. the ?rice & peas? was really rice mash bc theyrice was so over cooked. the only thing cooked well was the cabbage and that wasn?t even seasoned. I hate that I have to give a local business a bad review but I can?t allow hard working people to dine here. I?ve never tasted... food so bad in my life. None of the food was fresh. The jerk sauce has no taste just spice, the rice & peas tasted nothing andthe beans were hard, the grilled chicken was easily made 2 days prior, the rotti + chicken breast chunks was even more awful,and lastly the Mac & cheese was bland and bright yellow. I have coco bread too that I refuse to try. The owners could offer me afree meal here for being dissatisfied and I still would never come back. We catered a repast meal for 100 people and the food was a huge hit. We had the usual lineup with curry goat, oxtail, and jerk... chicken plus sides. Many guests from the Caribbean were taken ?back home? and just raved about how good the food was. Those notfrom the islands also raved about how flavorful and unique the food was. This place is a gem and should be on your short listfor your catering needs. I can?t wait to return to the DC area and try some more. Read more
