Reviews for Tony's Famous Pizzeria in Rockaway, NJ
Cool service. Vivid impressions. In general, I will visit here in a few days
We got a family size stromboli, it was very good and the size is perfect for a family.
I had High Expectations for this place, so much so, I drove 50 miles round trip to experience this place.. The outside has so... much character. It is such a cool looking building. Wish I could say it was worth it. I know better since the slices presentedlooked less than fresh. Which proved to correct, had 2 bites, which was plenty. Not going back. Read more
Plain pizza is average. Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't stand out. Too much sauce, too little cheese and thin in... comparison to most. They did seem busy, though, so I'd argue that some people disagree. Either that, or it's just the mostconvenient. Read more
It has been almost 15 years since I had a slice of Sal's pizza. While Sal no longer owns this place, the pizza is good. The... crust is thin but soft at the same time. The pies are generously sized and baked to order. It is a great neighborhood placewhere everyone knows your name. Read more
We have recently started going here after being disappointed by the previous owner. I hope the people leaving bad reviews aren't... thinking it is the last owner who only lasted a few months. We are pretty picky (especially my husband) and have been verypleased with both the pizza and sandwiches here. The portions are generous and all sandwiches come with very yummy fries. Myonly complaint would be we called last Friday and they said it would be an hour and 30 minute wait. That is probably more a signof the times with people ordering take out. I hope the new owner stays in business because it is hard to find good food placeswhen you live up Green Pond Road. Read more
This pizzeria is not open for business yet despite the hours posted. I have searched for social media announcements but haven't... seen any updates. If you do, please leave the news here and/or post the link. Thanks! 10/18/19 Update: Surprisingly, thispizzeria was open a couple of days ago. I spoke to the guy behind the counter. Although he has a thick Hispanic accent, I wasable to gather that the owner won't be posting online and is only open to posting signs on the storefront to update customers. Iwent ahead and bought a plain slice and two garlic knots. The slice showed signs of little effort. There was no love in thepizza. The crust was crispy all the way through (i.e. no chew in the middle). The garlic knots were overly yeasty andundercooked by a couple of minutes. There is no attention to detail here. Instead, a "just get it done" attitude comes throughthe food. I would recommend going to M&S instead (either one) but if you like mediocre food, this is the place for you. Read more
They have really good Pizza, Chicken, and Pizza Fries.
