We asked to be seated outside and we were seated right away. They have quite a variety of food options, so don't let the fact... that they are a sushi restaurant scare you away, there's lots of options and they happily made substitutions for us and said itwas no problem. Our waitress was great, but I think she forgot part of our order, the steamed edamame. I asked where it wasand she quickly replied it would be ready in a few minutes, it was an appetizer. Everything was brought at once, I would thinkit would be pretty quick to steam something . . When it did arrive, it was cold. they also kept stopping by to clean up thetable when we were still eating, both contributed to my review of only 4 out of 5 stars. Great atmosphere here, they havemusic outside pretty much every night and it's in a great location to enjoy a walk, ice cream, a merry go round ride or peoplewatching after you finish your meal. I lived in the Carolina's for multiple years and have eaten sushi for years ranging from exotic raw sashimi to traditional... rolls. Do not order the sushi here. The sushi selection is extremely small and very limited when it comes to traditional sushi.I ordered the spicy tuna roll, katana roll and the rainbow roll and each one was very warm including the raw sushi, tasted off,and were poorly made. After a quarter of my sushi I noticed my stomach instantly knot, and I began to shiver, and I needed tothrow up. I got food poisoning. The big red flag is most of their rolls are NOT raw, and even their cooked rolls were not goodat all, the katana rolls seaweed salad tasted horrible/rotten and I love seaweed salad. The poor waitress was running aroundlike a work horse and we spent over an hour waiting for 5 rolls of sushi, she atleast took off the tuna roll from our order.Walking out I noticed the sushi bar had raw fish pressed against the glass (not uncommon) but it had direct sunlight on all ofit. Sadly the owner of the restaurant left just before we cashed out, and the manager was unsure what to do so she took mynumber and name. Best sushi I ever had. My daughter got the Philadelphia Roll with salmon and I got a spicy tempura shrimp roll with coconut.... Just fabulous. My husband got the Fish Fry which was a huge and thick piece of fish breaded with an awesome crunchy crust. Thefries were also great. Highly recommend! Nice food, but TERRIBLE service. Where was our waitress Hannah? Where were the missing items? Where was the bill? Right, the... group next to us was confused about their food too. We even cleaned the table and piled all the plates. Where was Hannah again,we didn?t know, we had to bother other employees to find her. She is nice girl but really doesn?t know how to do her job. If I could give 6 stars I would! This place is one I will return to! The location is simply priceless. I got to eat and take a... walk on the pier. The crawdads appetizer was cooked so well and the sauce was delicious. The Salmon bowl was run of the mill butdelicious. I had a mango mojiito and it had real mango in it. The sever was nice and attentive and the decor was fresh andmodern. This is a Rochester gem. Read more

Worst sushi place ever, they should be ashamed for even attempting to make any sushi. Sushi chef "cooks" look like high school... graduates and server don't even know the menu. The rainbow roll was a disgrace to even have it on the menu. They don't know whata dragon roll is which every Japanese restaurant has in their menu, guess this wasn't a Japanese restaurant. My fault for eventrying this place out. The original owner knew what he was doing, who ever owns it now have no clue what sushi is and have nonexperience cooks making sushi is terrible, every fish especially tuna and salmon look like they were bought at Wegman's. Noteven fresh. If you want good quality sushi go else, there's many restaurants around that better, not this American washed sushiplace that try to fool peoples, especially people's that know good quality sushi!! The food and drinks are very good here. You have to try the different varieties of sushi and pair it with their drinks, trust me... you won't be disappointed. The best part I like is when you can eat outdoors at the bar or at the tables. There is also livemusic but check and see what times they play. I was a regular of California Rollin the original in Village Gate. I keep trying this location and I'm always disappointed.... After waiting 20 minutes I went and asked the hostess if we could get a server. Finally a server came over and apologized forthe wait and said they're totally disorganized there. ??????? It seems like the focus of this restaurant is to be a bar and nota sushi restaurant. Over an hour in total before our food arrived from the time we got there, and I had 2 small kids with me. Soit was disappointing. The food was also shocking.. the Volcano roll was bland, the kids avocado rolls were messy, thesweet-and-sour chicken was okay... We were served water in plastic to go cups and given plastic soy saw dishes.. and small drinkboxes for the kids. I don't know if they just don't care about being environmentally conscious or are too lazy to wash cups,but getting water in a to go cup INDOORS was very strange and very wasteful. There also was a hair in my food. I'm not sureanything else could have possibly gone wrong. Waiter Blake was nice and comped the roll with hair in it. But the food and waitwas too much.
