Reviews for Purple Goat in Rochester, MN
Menu has good variety with some interesting appetizers. Beer and wine selection somewhat on small side, one cider, no sours,... but a couple local brews. Food was hot and had good flavors. Also tried the spicy and berry hot sauces, I would do the berryagain, was unique and popped with just right amount of heat. Overall price was a bit high for style and quantity. Will be backto try the patio on a late sunny afternoon. Read more
We had mixed feelings about Purple Goat. The food was good and they had unique options I haven't seen elsewhere in Rochester... such as a goat cheese burger with pickled beets. And the atmosphere was fun. However, the meal pictured was $60 which we feltwas a bit high. Particularly we were surprised to only get 3 jalapeno popper rolls for $12.95. The habanero cheese curds wereonly $10 and SO GOOD. (Although very spicy, we love true heat and these delivered) But we both said we wouldn't pay that much todine there again. It just wasn't that good. Three other notes, they don't have a baby changing table and we weren't offered ahigh chair for our kiddo. So not really a family friendly option. And it may have been just a busy day but our server was alsothe bartender and she was way too spread out. She didn't have time to get us refills or ask how our food was and also forgot toput in our order for appetizers so we had to ask for them again when they brought our meal. But we could see her the whole timeand she was working her tail off at the bar, she truly didn't have time to serve us. And finally the Burger pictured was what wewere given when we asked for a "medium rare". It was still juicy and good but not a trace of pink. Overall, it was just OK. Wewon't be returning as we felt it was expensive for just OK. Read more
The food is great, but the appetizer portions are small for the price! We ordered the Jalapeno Poppers in an egg roll for $12.95... and got 3 of them. They taste amazing but I feel like you aren't getting what you pay for. The drinks are reasonably priced, butdon't taste the best in my opinion. One had a soap after taste. Read more
I was fully prepared never to step foot into another eating establishment in Rochester again. Same boring menus, high pricing,... and bad service have completely tarnished me. But, I was super hungry and not going home anytime soon. Needless to say...I foundmy new neighborhood hangout! Great atmosphere, food came out hot and as ordered, and both the Server and Bartender activelylistened to me! I requested a non-alcohol version of a drink they had on their menu. The Bartender took the price of the alcoholoff the total and professional. That was awesome considering the experience I had at the last establishment I had visited a fewnights ago. The decor was cozy and unique, the menu was not overwhelming with boring standard choices. And, the staff wereactually smiling and attentive. I loved it! The only thing I will remark on, but, will not dock any points for...because it washot and tasty...is the clam chowder. It was not as dense and seafood/veggie rich as it should be. I felt it was more like a wildrice soup base more than a chowder. Other than that...it was a perfect lunch visit! Read more
Huge portions, friendly service and a varied menu with options to please everyone in the family. The cocktails were hit or miss,... but they were all strong and a decent size for the price. The atmosphere is great, especially on the outdoor patio that is verydog- and child-friendly. The "French Fries and Ketchup" dessert was a very original concept, and so tasty! Classic fried fairfood flavor. No reservations accepted, but there's plenty of seating and rarely a wait. Read more
The portion sizes were really good. I had the cheese curds, Purple Goat Punch, and the Purple Goat Burger. The drink was pretty... boozy, but had flavor. I really love goat cheese, and the burger had an excellent blend of flavors. The fries were some of thebest that I've had- very crispy, thick fries. The only thing keeping my rating at 4 stars- the kids didn't like the Alfredo, asit was too garlicky, and the chicken was mixed in instead of on top. The Alfredo was pretty pricey for them not to like it. I'llprobably go back on date night, but not with the whole family. Read more
Great new restaurant in Rochester! I was excited to go check it out as Rochester is in need of fun and lively places like this.... The patio is going to be a hangout spot in the summer for sure. It's huge with tons of games equipped with a playground sofamily friendly which is a great touch. The menu and drinks were well thought out and reasonably priced. I got the curriedsalmon and it was delightful. Plating could use some help. Overall though, the curry sauce was super flavorful and the salmonwas cooked perfectly. My one knock on the menu is that I wish there were a couple more vegetarian/vegan options. I get it'sstill not the most popular but it's still nice to see restaurants have them on their menu. I didn't get a cocktail this time butwould love to try them the night time I'm back. Beer selection was above average and I liked that you could order a pint, tallglass, or a pitcher. Definitely recommend that you should go check this place out and support a local restaurant! Read more
It was a pleasant experience to have lunch in this restaurant. It has a nice covered patio area which is well serves by the... attendants. Indoors area is also cozy and has nice big screens to watch sports, plus a fireplace. The portions are kinda big,and food came in a normal time range. Personally, the menu won’t give you an idea how good and how big the dish is, and themenu ia definitely not that appealing. Nonetheless, the food was good, and the drink too. The drink menu, wine and beeravailability are not great. More a of a restaurant than a bar :( Servers are super nice and helpful. They also have an ATMinside, that’s sometimes helpful. Read more
