What a great place! My daughter really wanted to go and I was skeptical as I'm a meat and potatoes type of guy. But the food... was fantastic and we all had a lot of fun with the food preparation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great atmospherewith different seating options. We really enjoyed sitting at the counter. Read more

I am pleasantly surprised to find good shabu shabu near home! I hit up Chinatown once a week for Chinese hot pot, so I was... hesitant to try a shabu shabu place in the burbs. However, I have nothing really negative to say about this restaurant. Forabout $36/person after tax and tip, the all you can eat was a great value. The ambiance was perfect for a quiet Tuesday datenight. Service was above and beyond, from the host to the waitstaff to the guy slicing meat. While I still personally prefer themuch bolder flavors of Chinese hot pot, I still enjoyed this meal. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking totry hot pot for the first time, as the waitstaff will happily explain everything, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Read more

Was our first time trying this shabu shabu place. It had a cool modern feel much like Shakou if you have ever been there and was... set up in a way for people to try shabu shabu for the first time. The service was great and they add a bit of pizazz whenexplaining/setting up . It was overall a good experience but compared to other shabu shabu places the broth was lacking and itwas pricey. Overall we would reccomend for a fun experience and definite yes if you have never had shabu shabu! Read more

If you're looking for an authentic experience King Shabu Shabu is not it. This is a restaurant that performs in style while... falling far short in substance. This is highlighted by Kings choice to place its meat cutter center stage slowing service butallowing all to see instead of multiples in the back where you could serve your patrons faster. By the time we got our meat ourbroth was boiled away and our vegetables ruined. The photography of the restaurant does justice to how beautiful the interioris but behind the ascent neon and white table tops is poor slow service of mediocre food. If you want a restaurant to impresswith how much you spend, do something a little silly chat while wait prolonged periods of time this place is perfect. Goodthird date "look how much I spent" restaurant Read more

This was truly one of the best dining experiences I had in Chicago. I love the healthy food, the excellent quality of the... ingredients, the ability for all of us to take our own pace, create our own special broth. Excellent drinks and atmosphere aswell Read more

This is the best Japanese style shabu shabu restaurant in town. Excellent quality beef, including wagyu and A5. Spectacular... service with attention to detail. Took the owner's recommendation of adding clams to bring the both more flavor. It wasdelicious. Shrimps are also fat and juicy. Will be frequenting this place often. Read more

I came here with high expectations because of the 5 star rating (at the time of writing this) and King Shabu Shabu definitely... hits the mark. I haven't been to a shabu shabu restaurant before...only Chinese hotpot, so I was surprised at the elegance ofthe meal: how the courses were brought out at the right time with appropriate breaks in between. At other hotpot places I'vebeen to, all of the food is brought to you almost immediately after ordering, but this restaurant was paced very nicely. Thestaff were attentive and nice and were often around, available for questions and such. The meat was very high quality, as wasthe shrimp. You make the broth itself, and the veggies they give you to do so are not particularly spicy, so if you want a spicypot you can ask for some spicy sauces (it has a name like "spice platter" or something but I forget). I got the spices nearingthe end of my meal and I wish I got them prior to cooking my food. The atmosphere is clean and bright (this restaurant openedlate April; not long ago at the time of writing this) and everything looks new. I give King Shabu Shabu an overall score of11.5/12 Read more
