We were seated and tended to by the owner. The food was great, with seafood that tasted fresh! Great, homey decor and... environment. We can?t wait to go back to try more of the menu! Read more
The 3 times I?ve tried to dine here it was closed. Which was contrary to the advertised operation hours. The most recent visit... the automated phone system told me to order online because they were not accepting call in orders. I received confirmation thatsaid my order was being prepared. I arrived at 6pm and the door had an open light on and the door signage said they were openeduntil 8pm. I tried to open the door and they were closed. After I paid for my order online. Please make sure your website doesnot accept orders if you are closed. Read more

This place is the definition of mom and pop home cooking. The gumbo was hot, fresh, and delicious. The atmosphere is very... welcoming and the staff is great. Super friendly and they take pride in their food. We will come here again for sure. Read more
Delicious, fresh cooked, flavorful food. The menu is a mix of Southern and Cajun and seafood. You can get a hamburger, cabbage,... turkey necks, seafood gumbo, chicken & sausage gumbo, red beans & rice, shrimp Alfredo, shrimp tacos, or one of many otherdelicious choices. On our visit, which was our first, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I got the house premiumgumbo, which was very flavorful, had a good amount of meat in it and was fairly spicy. I'm sometimes leary of restaurant gumbobecause most restaurants serve it watery and not that flavorful. But this was exceptional gumbo, obviously made with a thick, dark roux. My wife got the red beans and rice. It was also fairly spicy and flavorful with a good amount of sausage. I sampledher beans and can honestly say they are really good; not watered down nor too thick. The rice in each dish was perfectly cooked. We split a side of cabbage which was by far the best cabbage I've ever had. It had a buttery, seasoned flavor and is cooked withsauteed onions. If you like cabbage you'll love this item. I definitely recommend trying it. My son got the pasta with shrimp. This was large enough to feed at least 2 people and the shrimp were seasoned very well. It came with toasted French bread. Fordessert we shared a turtle brownie that had a scoop of ice cream on top. Needless to say we didn't leave hungry. If you're inthis area I'd definitely recommend trying this restaurant, they've got something for most everyone's taste. We're from out oftown but will frequent this restaurant when we come back through. Definitely does not disappoint. I'd definitely recommend thisplace to others. Read more
The decor on the outside and the inside is very beautiful. It was my first time eating at the restaurant and I almost walked... out. This place is only opened on Thursday thru Saturday. Since I went on a Saturday night, they were out of basically half themenu. I still decided to stay and order something and I was glad that I did. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the redbeans and rice. We also had a brownie for dessert. All the food was full of flavor and spicy. The red beans and rice was goodbut too spicy for my liking. It was my first time trying fish taco but I was very impressed. They were so good with the mildsauce. It was like a sea garden full of flavor. Next time I'll go on a Thursday so I can try more items from the menu Read more
Hands down the best Cajun food in the Jackson area. I was born and raised in New Orleans and have sorely missed the flavors that... Gumbo Girl delivers. There are others that come close, but this is the best Cajun restaurant to come to Jackson since I?ve beenhere. I have had their seafood gumbo as well as their turkey neck surf and turf pot. The spice level was perfect, but theflavors are what blow you away. Many people try to make a rue, but Gumbo Girl nailed it. You?ll be getting your fingers messy topick off every bit of meat in your bowl, so I hope your date doesn?t mind. The restaurant was very clean, classy, and welldecorated. The staff was friendly, and the owner/chef even came out to speak with us for a few minutes. She has a true passionfor her cooking. They even have a great to-go business where you can pick up containers of gumbo and more. I will definitelybe coming back in the months and years to come. Laissez les bons temps rouler Read more
