This place is a Mississippi staple. You're warmly greeted when you enter and the place if full of smiles. The servers are polite... and attentive as well. I am so full that I can barely type. We ordered fish and chicken and a pot of greens. The mealsautomatically come with pickled onions, coleslaw, fries and hush puppies. They bring out the sides first then the food and ifyou don't' control yourself, you'll be full rather quickly. You also can't go wrong with the sweet tea. I am a repeat, alwayssatisfied customer. This was a great visit to a new place. My wife and I enjoyed the meal and the service. The catfish was cooked just right and the... hush puppies and turnip greens were perfect. My wife really liked the grilled chicken. She said it was the best she has had in along while. We had a Canadian goose watch us while we ate and the water on the reservoir was beautiful. Probably the best thingof all was the Christian music playing in the restaurant. We are on vacation and missed our church so the music was verypleasurable to listen to as we ate. If you are ever in the Madison area you should definitely check this place out. It will beworth your time. Read more
First time and it was great! We came at lunch - asked to sit with a water view, and the hostess was happy to do that. We had... April for our server - she was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great - we each chose the 1/2 Keelboat, which came with2 pieces of fish, fries, 2 hush puppies, and two cornbread muffins. We chose to swap out the greens, each had mashed potatoes &gravy instead. I also swapped the coleslaw for black-eyed peas, while my mother kept the slaw, and also had pickled onions. This was actually my very 1st time coming here. My wife has been here several times before. The wait wasn't but a few minutes.... The service was pretty good, our waiter was on top of everything.So I gave him a good tip as well. I enjoyed the food. The friedpickles were awesome. I had the Keelboat catfish fillets with a large onion rings. My wife had half keelboat special withcatfish & a pot of greens. We really enjoyed our visit & got full at the same time & had food to take home. We will mostdefinitely be back again soon. Read more
