This is the second time this year that I've gone to a Ridgefield restaurant with my mother and we've come away with completely... different experiences. This was her choice for lunch last Friday - she did a bit of research online and was intrigued by thepizzas. As soon as we walked in, I just wasn't comfortable. I found the interior to be super claustrophobic, especially becausethey still had the plexiglass separators up between tables (don't worry - I'm not going down a COVID rabbit hole here). Theoutside looked very spacious and edgy, and in hindsight I should have pushed for a table out there. My mother thought it wascozy. Of course. I've been going through a bourbon phase of late, and opted for the Connecticut Meets Manhattan cocktail ($13).It's basically just an Old Fashioned with the addition of Sweet Vermouth so I'm not sure where the CT part of the name is comingfrom. I could be totally ignorant on that point though. I wasn't crazy about the first sip or two, but it did grow on me - ittasted like a really boozy cherry cola (I didn't notice there was a literal cherry at the bottom until I emptied the glass - anice, flavorful touch). We both ordered pizzas - I went with the Margharita ($18), while my mom opted for the Classic Cheese($15). Overall, I was not a fan of this pizza, especially the sauce. I don't like chunks in tomato sauce generally, and it wassuper bland. The cheese was okay - I've had better, and I've had worse; I didn't really see anything that distinguished it as"fresh mozzarella" compared to the regular mozzarella listed on the menu for the other pies. The basil was a welcome addition tothe palate, and the star of the show here was the crust. It had a nice, charred crunch to it, so the foundation is there toimprove on this for sure. But honestly? Very good wood-fired pizza made with fresh ingredients. Nice use of the oven gave the pizza a good char. I thought the... Margherita had too much cheese and the sauce was a bit sweeter than usual, but others in my party thoroughly enjoyed it. Therestaurant is nicely curated with a relaxed, laid-back feel to it. The pizza was absolutely fantastic -great flavor and cooked perfectly (wood fired pizza)! The service exceeded our expectations.... It was the first night of our vacation and we really wanted to sit outside on their patio. They already had a fire in the fireplace so they moved our table in front of the fire place and then brought over a propane heater as well. Kindly accommodatingand quite friendly!! This is my first time at a brick house. I?ve been wanting to come for some time but it?s about a 30 minute drive from norwalk. I... came today and boy it was well worth it. No joke you guys this is some of the best pizza I have ever had. I ended up getting a?kids size? because I wasn?t too hungry but omg I scarfed it down. The cocktails are amazing. My bartenders name was ANDY and hewas so sweet! Super polite and personable. They didn?t have exactly what I wanted but he made it work and made a LOW CALORIEdrink that was to die for.
