This place is famous for their curry crab with bread or roti and it didn’t disappoint. It was incredible, rich in flavour. Def... a treat that everyone should do at least once a year or every couple of years. Lol Read more

If you're hungry visit here. I visited for a take out and the staff were very efficient and I soon received my take out, this... was when they were semi busy with half the tables full. I ordered the pad thai and received a big portion. The quality wasquite good so if you're not fussy this should be good for you. Pretty good tasting. Prices were pretty reasonable given thesize of the portion. Read more

Located in busy strip mall in Richmond Hill area. The stretch has many Asian restaurants. The car park can be very busy during... dinner time. Saigon star serves mainly Vietnamese cuisine as well as Thai and Chinese. They are most known for their famousCurry Dungeness Crab. It is their signature dish and does not disappoint! I have been here before pre-pandemic but my first timetrying their Curry Crab. It is the best Crab dish I have ever had. The curry sauce is aromatic, rich and full of flavour. Thecrab itself is has a sweet flavour and they compliment each other excellent. The roti is fresh, flaky and not too heavy, itsoaks up the lovely curry flavour. The fried rice is a next must have dish. It is creatively served in a pineapple and thissweet flavour enhances the Smokey fried rice taste. The curry lamb dish is also very excellent. The lamb is very tender and fullof flavour. A definite visit for any seafood lover and for anyone who wishes to experience a unique dish. Read more

It's sometimes hard to find decent seafood, so I was intrigued by Saigon Star. It's a long-standing establishment that's been... open for well over 25 years in Richmond Hill, and even years before that in downtown Toronto. Vietnamese/Chinese cuisine onoffer, with hot takes on curry crab and other seafood beyond pho and rice. It's usually quite packed for dinner, and it was thesame even on a weekday evening. We came to taste their recipe for success. Started with their pho which was a bit more intensethan the soup elsewhere but on the saltier side. Next came the Chilli Paste Fresh Clams that had great balance of sweet & spicyflavour, and was popular with the whole fam. Crab Curry then landed and took up center stage. This is the dish to get down rightdirty with gloves, with rich creamy curry sauce, and fresh BC crab meat. I followed the advice of others to order roti to scoopthe curry, delicious! Rack of Lambs that then arrived was well-seasoned and grilled to medium rare; it was a bit too tough forthe others so I enjoyed it on my own. Last but not least, a plate of Grilled Jumbo Prawns filled what little space was left atour table; all that head butter and succulent prawn meat was perfect with the vermicelli. For dessert, piping hot taro sagopudding wrapped up a great meal. Seafood was reasonably priced for the quality of dishes, including seasonal price for thecrab. Now I understand why one of the popular chefs in the city rated the Crab Curry at Saigon Star as his favourite meal. Theowner seemed disappointed when we didn't finish the large crab portion upon asking for the bill! Not to worry him, we packed therest of the curry which was just so good. Read more

Excellent experience going to this restaurant. The curry crab does not disappoint, but goes beyond all expectations. Make sure... to get the fried pancakes with the curry crab for the best flavor combination. Lamb chops and grilled jumbo shrimp was amazingas well. The servers are amazing as well. Thank you so much for the excellent experience. Definitely be back again and always. Read more

My friends and I have been back time and time again because of just how much we love their food!! Every time I’ve brought a... friend there, they’ve always raved about how delicious the food is. One of our faves is definitely the curry crab with roti(their flagship dish). The sauce is so good that I wish I could pack it up and eat it with everything. Another fave of mine isthe beef short ribs (not pictured here). I’ve tried a lot of beef short ribs before and Saigon Star’s marinade is by far myfavourite!! We also got the basil chilli clams which was absolutely delicious. The sauce was sooo flavourful and really hit thespot! We were also a big fan of the black pepper lobster which was coated with the yummy black pepper seasoning. I willdefinitely be coming back with more friends! If you haven’t tried their food already, I would definitely recommend giving thema try!! Read more

Saigon star just HITS THE SPOT!!! I’ve been craving seafood for months and this went above and beyond my expectations. Highly... recommend families or groups of friends to check it out. The lobster and pork neck was by far two of the best dishes I’ve everhad. I couldn’t get enough. We also tried their famous curry crab (have it with the roti) and scallops. We didn’t get thechance to try their dessert (just means I need to go again) but the smoothies and Vietnamese coffee really were the cherries ontop. Read more
