Reviews for Edo's Squid in Richmond, VA
Extremely busy hole in the wall restaurant. I was lucky to snag a bar spot. Monday is an especially busy night as many other... restaurants are closed. I had the Seafood Pasta and it was perfect. Overflowing with delicious clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, and fish. The broth was a rich seafood explosion, and the pasta was great as well. Not sure if they make it in-house, but eitherway no complaints. All in all a fantastic well rounded dish, and plenty of it. I'll be coming back next time I'm in Richmondwhich I hope is soon. Al was a true professional behind the bar, thanks Edo's. Read more
Overall it?s a great Italian restaurant and we really liked it, the only thing that I did not like about was too much seasoning... on some of the dishes. The one that I ordered had too much garlic. Their fried squid appetizer was amazing and highlyrecommended. Their portion size is huge and it can easily fill two people per dish. Read more
First time visit! Entrance to the place can be deceiving. It feels like you are in the wrong place while walking upstairs to... the 2nd floor. Once you open the door, it's a different vibe. The pictures tells it all. Like my son say, "I haven't had agreat meal for a long time." Trust me, you will not be disappointed. PS, you need to order the tiramisu before you leave. Read more
A small restaurant that sits on the 2nd floor with an entrance that makes you think you?re walking out of a maintenance closet.... Very unassuming. Don?t let it fool you though, as soon as you walk in it has a very cozy and classic feel. Wife and I didn?thave to wait long to be seated and the servers were very attentive. I would highly recommend making reservations, the room waspractically filled at 630pm on a Monday evening. I was able to make a reso after 3pm the same day. Meal portions are supergenerous, expect to take to-go if ordering individually. Fried squid was deliciously seasoned and texture was on point. TheSausage, Ricotta, Broccoli rabe w/ penne was good and flavorful, was only a little disappointed that it came out just luke warm.Staff was quick to fix and to my surprise brought out a freshly made plate. Wife got the Mixed Seafood pasta. Big bowl of pastain a light, fresh tomato sauce with a layer of mixed seafood on top. Seafood pasta done right! Although the setting wasintimate, it was a little bit too intimate with the tables for 2s sitting close together like a setting for 4. But I guessthat?s the charm. Overall, a definite must try! We hope to go again and try the many more options on the menu. Read more

Fun old-school Italian spot with great cooking, generous portions and efficient, friendly service. We tried a number of... different plates, fried squid, squid with beans and arugula for starters. Then for the mains: veal scallopini, polenta, beansand cotechini, and several pasta dishes. It was more than we could eat so we ended up bringing a lot home, but all very tasty. The restaurant has a GREAT atmosphere. Will definitely visit again when back in town. Read more
Such a classic Richmond haunt! Locals know that the somewhat dingy, carpeted steep stairwell leads to this cozy, intimate,... surprisingly elegant setting. This romantic restaurant carries some of the best Italian food in Richmond- the dishes are notoverly complex and not the typically Italian dishes that one might come to expect- they?re just extremely well done andgratifying. Get the fennel appetizer-even if fennel doesn?t call your name, you?ll be glad to have the creamy cheesy broth it?sbraised in. The calamari was the best I?ve ever had, crispy and fresh and so good it didn?t need sauce accompaniment. Myfavorite pasta so far is the shrimp, kale, pine nut spaghetti. Read more
Fun place with a hip vibe. Very hard to get a table here. Small place but very good Italian food. Keep an eye on the bar a as... most people seem to be sitting at the bar waiting for a table. We were able to grab a seat at the bar when it vacated and eatdinner at the bar. The place is a little bit noisy but it has a interesting vibe. Worth trying out when you?re in the area Read more
