I'll start with the positive. The atmosphere is lovely. The place seems clean. Tables are well-placed. Lighting is... pleasant. Beef tenderloin is very good. Negative: Music is not appealing. Pianist plays Muzak style familiar songs, and tooloud. More appropriate music would be a quartet, or even some instrumental swing/jazz. The talented pianist--who probablyplays by ear-- would do better to try some old jazz standards at a lower volume. Waiter is not seasoned for this kind ofrestaurant, and lack of confidence and polish shows. Caesar salad dressing has absolutely no flavour. I do not recommend it,and it's not a Caesar. Several pieces of lettuce had brown on them. Tables had no flatware for appetizers, salads, ordesserts. Only one fork and one knife are provided. Wine / champagne glasses are too heavy, difficult to hold, and feel awkwardin the hand. Not everything on the wine list is actually available. Seats are not comfy enough for a dining experience, andsome of the table lamps are rickety. Read more

Our most recent visit to Chez Foushee was for a private event that was lovely, but since the change of ownership in 2017 I've... been for brunch and dinner w/ my husband and lunch w/ co-workers. All of which were exceptional. The food is freshly preparedusing local and seasonal ingredients to create unique combinations and sauces that make you want to lick the plate. Beautifulupdates to the decor have made the space more open while still feeling intimate. It's a great place for catching up with friendsfor brunch, a romantic dinner to celebrate a special anniversary/event or for a fun night out when they have Piano Karaoke. Read more

Beautiful restaurant in Richmond. The food and service were excellent! Parking is street parking but usually not too hard to... find. Went on one of their nights they have Candlelit dinners with piano music — it was magical. Our server, Anthony, was anabsolute gem. Highly recommend the Brie appetizer and the crab cake! The drinks were great too — they even accommodated mewhen I asked for something not on the menu (bay breeze drink). Overall, it was a fabulous experience and the restaurant hasgreat ambiance. Can’t wait to go back! Read more

We went here for brunch and it was surprisingly empty. It’s a fancy restaurant and it was hard to chose from their... tasty-sounding menu, but we ended up getting the crab Benedict and creme brûlée French toast. The crab Benedict came withhash browns and fruit, and the French toast came with strawberries and whipped cream on top. Creme brûlée French toast wasmore like a pound cake though it made it more unique— it could function more as a dessert than an entree. Crab Benedict hadonly a complete pieces of shell that I noticed, and the poached eggs on top we’re good. We also got some Rose tea (which had afancy-sounding name). It was aromatic yet quite strong. Since we ‘checked-in’ using Yelp, we got two free truffle pieces. It is worth trying their brunch as they have some unique and good tasting menu items to choose from. Read more

A gem that Richmonders tend to take for granted because Chez Foushee has been a staple for so long. We'll not make that mistake... again. The restaurant is incredibly appointed with high ceilings and a color scheme that seems to create light. The service wasoutstanding - the waiter noticed our poached eggs were cooked solid & had the kitchen remake our meals without us saying a wordabout it, except thank you. Once the eggs were cooked correctly, the Benedict brunches (one traditional, one crabcake) werefantastic with a hollandaise sauce that is probably the best in the city. The brunch cocktail menu was a great blend of bothtraditionals and new takes on old favorites. We are so happy that Chez Foushee quietly continues to be a Richmond delight. Read more
