Food is very good and very close to what I had in Germany. The issue for our visit was, unusually long wait for the food to get... to our table something around 90 minutes from the time we put the order, despite being in the middle of the week and not in abusy hour. They tried to compensate by giving free beers which was cool. Need some major management reconsideration to mitigatesuch long wait times. Probably won't come back. Read more

Excellent food, beer, and friendly service! It's a small place with about 4 booths, 2 small tables, and a bar space. Since they... don't take reservations we showed up before they opened and it worked out well. They had 4 different draft beers includingPaulaner hefeweizen, Reissdorf kolsch that we quite enjoyed while waiting for our food. We ordered the Jagerschnitzel andsauerbraten with sides of sauerkraut, blaukraut, spaetzle, and bratkartoffeln. While waiting for our food, we're served warmhomemade focaccia bread which was so good. Everything was super delicious and the meat was cooked to perfection. Portions arequite big (that being said we ate everything on our plates.) I don't know what to say about the Blackforest cake, just getit! Highly recommend and will definitely be back! Read more

I have been to the top of Mt.Schnitzel and it is Cafe Rustika in RVA. You think you've had schnitzel before? Ha I laugh at you.... This place will blow your puny conceptions of schnitzel out of the water. Not only the schnitzel but the sides are a perfectexecution of their substance as well. And then there's the beer. They have maybe 4 beers on tap, each excellently sourced andserved. The staff are passionate about what they serve here. This is one of the very few perfect restaurants I've ever been to. Read more

The food here is awesome! Large portions, great sides, and the most perfect, lightly battered schnitzel. It's a limited menu but... if you're a schnitzel lover, then this is the place to go! We went in for an early dinner, got a table easily, but the wait timefor food was excruciating. Our food didn't arrive until an hour after ordering. If you want to eat here, I'd recommend orderingahead for pick up and avoid the in person wait. Despite that, I'm still giving this place 5 stars because the food wasfantastic. Limited street parking in the area and a few paid parking garages within a couple blocks. Read more

A delightful experience. This is a very small row restaurant with street parking right outside. They have a small menu but... everything was absolutely outstanding! We had the yeagerschnitzel with spaetzels and sauerkraut, and the schnitzel specialwith a Dijon cream sauce. We had chocolate pate with almond crust for desert. Everything was cooked fresh (we could hear thechef pounding out the schnitzel). The meat was super tender and the breading was perfectly crispy. The sauerkraut was perfect(not too sour nor bland), and the spaetzels were definitely home made. The desert was to die for. Top it off with superfriendly and attentive service and you can see why this place is so highly rated. Definitely recommend!!! Read more

Great little hole in the wall restaurant. Food tastes amazing and the German beer is delicious as well. Definitely very close... to, if not authentic German food. The only 2 downsides to this place (but that I couldn?t justify giving a 4 star rating for),it?s very small so 4 people are squished together at a small table and it was extremely warm inside the night we were there. Notsure if they didn?t have A/C or if it was just off but it was really warm. Great servers and really nice homey feeling. They?llput you on a wait list if they?re busy, just walk around the corner and hang out at the English pub. Read more

We had a great night out recently where we were craving something different, but authentic. This was our first experience at... Cafe Rustika and it won't be the last! I had the chicken schnitzel a la holstein and it was DELICIOUS! Everything is made toorder so it takes a little to get the food, but it's worth the wait! And the portion sizes are generous (love having leftoversfrom an amazing meal). On top of all that the service was great! Read more

Finally found the best German food in town. We definitely missed the food from Europe and the food gave us a nice little memory... of the European cuisine. Read more
