Never tried Ethiopian. Most of the food we tried was yummy. The injera bread takes some getting used to. Our server was helpful.... The restaurant looks older and dingy. The bathroom was ATROCIOUS. Read more

If I could give y'all 6 stars, I would. Addis is outstanding! Everything is skillfully prepared and packed with flavor. Some of... our favorite protein dishes include Bozena Shiro (a thick gravy-like savory beef stew), Chicken Tibs (sauteed chicken withspices and jalapeno), and Doro Wot (stewed onions with aromatic spices, chicken, and hard boiled egg). For vegetable dishes weusually order the platter of 6 because it's impossible to choose and they all add such wonderful contrast to any entree. For twopeople, it's just enough to order one appetizer, one main entree and a side because it comes with injera which is filling...Butwe always go way overboard. Plus we want extra for leftovers. Dine in or take out, it's the best. There's nothing like thesatisfaction of a meal from Addis! Read more

Excellent restaurant right in the middle of downtown Richmond. The service provided by the waitress was friendly and the food... was tasty, although a bit on the bland side. Some of the better injera I have had. I do wish the food was served warm insteadof room temp (I got veg entree), and the wait time was long for the food to arrive. Otherwise very good. Read more

Great service... we had them bring "food for 5". We got a wonderful selection of veg and meat dishes. The beets were delicious... and the injera easy to use. Highly recommended Read more

Average Ethiopian restaurant in a fun part of town. The vegetarian platter was enough for two people, but the food itself was... ordinary and not particularly flavorful. The wine list is OK but don't write home about it; the beer list, in a city known forits breweries, was completely pedestrian. I ended up not wanting to drink anything at all. The server was very friendly andtried to do a good job, but was not up to the task and seemed overwhelmed trying to cope with the few diners who came in thatevening. The outdoor patio is great, with effective heaters and a canopy. The street is closed to cars, so people-watching is apleasant diversion. Parking can be a challenge, particularly during busy weekends. Read more

I went here on a weeknight. The inside is very air conditioned but it was pleasant to eat outside. The staff was friendly and... accommodating to my additional requests for a spoon and to-go containers. I ordered the Addis speciality 3 meat plate. Therestaurant was out of Alicia sega wot. The portions were very generous and enough for at least 3 meals. I appreciated thevariety but found many pieces of the beef to be very tough so I did not want to eat it all. I liked that the meat plate camewith a vegetable. The actual price of the specialty meat plate was 10 percent higher than what was listed on the menu. The washuman hair baked into my injera that discouraged me from finishing the injera. See my photo. A friend had recommended it as afavorite so maybe I went on an off night. Read more
