Takeya has always been good because it's slightly above average food was cheap. Now it's takeout only and the prices are insane.... 2 drinks, 1 soggy stick of karaage, Ebi curry rice bowl, sushi rolls, half a dessert for $70. Everything was nothing special asusual, but nowadays the price does not reflect the quality. $35 per person for quickly average quality takeout food isunreasonable. This food is worth $20-$23 each if that. Read more

Freshly cooked rice bowls (still warm to the touch) and bento boxes right at 11am. They open 11 to 6. Fresh food and Daifuku... desserts in the coolers. They have not offered dine in since 2020 but it did not stop customers from visiting. Open onThanksgiving Day. Customers were already pouring in as they open the door. Two cashier counters taking orders for sushi andramen. I bought 2 ready made boxes for takeaway. Mini Unagi Don $7.75 ????????????????????????- warm rice freshly cooked in themorning. Unagi chewy inside and crisped on the top, and the amount of teriyaki Sauce drizzled on rice is just right. The sauceis less sweet than some other places. Condiments include fine shredded sesame seaweed and pickled cucumber ???????? . Lovelypackaging presentation. I think the price is about the same for the area. Avocado salad $6.95 ????????????????????????- For $7You can buy a box of garden greens from Superstore double this size, but I will still buy this Avocado Salad because of thegreat presentation, the 1/2 soft ripe jumbo avocado sliced, the cherry tomatoes, and fine cut fresh white onion. Onion addsplayfulness into this salad. No proteins included. Read more

Happened to find myself in Richmond and was looking for a decent place to grab some lunch... And boy, was I in luck!! Takeya... Sushi is a gem for anyone looking for authentic-tasting, fresh Japanese food! They have a great selection, too - so many of thethings I've been craving for years since the time I lived in Japan!.. And to top it off... the prices are super neat, too! 100%recommended to any Japanese food lovers who like to venture beyond just the sushi and ramen. Keep in mind, currently you cannotdine in, it's either takeaway, delivery or you can come shop at the store. Might have to wait in line a bit if you order. Happyeating! Read more

I was in the mood for tonkatsu and decided to try their Premium Katsu Bento. It comes with egg, sweet red beans, rice, two... pieces of karaage in a potato salad style dressing, sour daikon and carrot, and seaweed salad. The katsu lacked anyjuice/flavor but maintained a decent crunch considering it was 10 minutes on the counter. The karaage tasted better than thePremium katsu. Not a fan of the eggs. I was expecting them to be sweet... At least the red beans were sweet. I would not ordertheir Premium katsu. If you got a craving, go to Katsu San 4 minutes north by car instead. Read more

Very economy style tasting sushi. And overpriced for what you get. $20.00 for a bento. Overall it was alright but the rice was... not that fresh, the tempura was on the soggier and oily side, and the portion was quite small. I was still hungry afterwards. Read more

Dependable and consistent. Sure, you can go to a sushi restaurant where they get their products from Japan (there is one in... Steveston for example), but you will pay for that. This meal was $20 per person and that is actually higher than usual as weoften get lower priced party trays at Takeya Sushi. The surprise the last while has been the unagi. I have seen a promotion atthe store and the eel seems better than what they usually serve. I think they charge for extra soy sauce but not ginger? Theygave us more than enough soy sauce, but we always ask for extra ginger as it is nice to have a palate cleanser between thedifferent rolls/pieces, and those packets do not hold a lot (or you can grab a jar of sushi ginger/Gari at Izumiya at 3 Rd andAlderbridge). In the evenings, take out usually takes between 20 to 45 minutes. Service has always been polite on the phone andnice at the counter. Daniel Read more
