I had dinner tonight with a friend visiting from The UK - a highlight was the 9 item premium omakase sashimi - a really... outstanding selection, presentation, and taste! We also had a hamachi collar that was really good. All of the other items we hadwere also very nice - a fine meal for two experienced diners. I will be back and I hope for a repeat! Read more

They must have changed something in the menu- for the price you pay, you get very small sushi. 2 of the 3 rolls you see in the... picture is a ?special roll? for which you pay ~$16. Compare that to the California roll (at the bottom)- which is supposed to besmall. It?s the same size. Very disappointed. We will not order again. Read more

***Updated review. We stopped going to this restaurant simply because their customer service declined heavily. The last 3 times... we went to dine here, we were rushed out. They post their hours are open til 9pm. We would arrive at 8pm for dinner, be seatedimmediately, asked for our order within minutes of sitting down, all food and drinks would be on the table within 10min and thebill would be brought to our table after our first bite. Employees and chefs would stand there starring at us. And every few minsomeone would come by to ask if our payment was ready. They would close down the restaurant before we were done w our meal. Itwas quite obvious patrons are not welcome to dine closer to close time. We observed this behavior with other people who wouldcome to dine after we arrived. This happened to us 3 times, we thought it was a fluke the first time, then the second, after the3rd time, we stopped going there. Food is good but not that good when you have to scarf it down or take it Togo and eat in theparking lot because you're being rushed out. Thanks but no thanks. Customer service here has gone down the drain. They have Super impressed with this place. The food is fantastic and plentiful. Service is Outstanding. Our waitress remembered us fromdining there a week or so ago and remembered our order. It was fascinating. we brought our 5 month old with us this time todinner and he was warmly welcomed by the staff. They gave us a booth secluded away from all the noise of the restaurant, it wassuch a nice gesture. Everyone came over to see our baby and ask if they could bring us anything more. I have a gluten allergywhich makes dining out a little difficult. We ordered the rib eye and bacon wrapped mochi to start. 49er roll, warrior roll,(both without sauces) spider roll and a bunch of maki rolls. They have gluten free soy sauce and make my sushi rolls GF. It wasa lot of food and We were full to say the least. Delicious! Im looking forward to coming here ag Read more

Cute, quaint, cozy and enjoyable. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but we were well taken care of after we sat in our... private booth. Expect a 4.2 of 5 price range due to its popular Redwood City location. However, the food quality andpresentation is worth the extra buck. Service was 'over the top!' Read more

Above average sushi and Japanese tapas at an average price. Drinks are also quite cheap for their quality. The place is also... newly done and had a fusion Japanese restaurant feel with abundance of wood and space. A really rare find in the Bay Area. 5stars for really striving to deliver value to customers. I just fear that either they will slowly raise prices as they becomemore well known or start using lower grade fish. Read more

Came on friday for a late lunch and it wasn't too busy; got seated immediately and got drinks and order within a few minutes. We... were just 2 and one of us had ordered the chirashidon for $16.95 (sashimi ricebowl) and the other a bento box $11.95 withteriyaki salmon and kurobuta pork katsu. The miso soups and the chirashidon came very quickly but I had to wait a bit longerfor the bento box, but when it came everything was warm and delicious. I really likes the salmon teriyaki because the fish waswell grilled and the sauces was delicious. The box comes with some rice and salad as well. The chirashi don was good as well, although a bit small for some. The size of the box seemed a lot better fit for the average client. We also had some hot sakeand hot tea. The service was attentive and Nice, we asked several questions and got all answered. They've been opened for veryshort, but they already work pretty well, at least when not busy. Another point I wanted to touch on is the aesthetics. Therestaurant looks clean and modern, And also has a space with those tables that don't have chairs around... not sure what thename for that is but I'll upload a photo. The menus are beautiful and the lunch menu comes on a wood plank, looks Nice! All theplates and cups were from the same collection. The oxymoron though,is that Hikari means light and the restaurant is rather dark, haha. Will be back to try more dishes, they have ahuge menu with nabe (hotpot style dishes) and grill skewers! We visited opening weekend and it was very crowded. Overall food/discuss quality is above average, and prices are average. They... make up the difference with portions that are somewhat small. Tempura was good - but small. Nigiri also smaller than average.Atmosphere is very good - they did a nice job rebuilding the space from what was a Pasta Pomadoro. They have some sort of HappyHour daily 5-6pm - but our server was unclear on the details. Given the price point and the atmosphere, I'm awarding 5 stars. Read more
