I rarely write reviews, but this little wine bar is too exceptional. The owners were so friendly and happy it was hard not to... love this place before we even sat down. The homey atmosphere only added to the ambience. It feels like the quaint tasting roomsyou'd find in Callistoga or St Helena, but in the heart of downtown Redding. The wine was delicious, the crepizza we had wasdelicious, and the top notch service only added to the overall experience. I only wish it was open more days of the week so wecould go more often! You cant fault the owners for this, though, as The Grape Escape is essentially a passion project. Needlessto say, we enjoyed every minute of our time here and will undoubtedly be back. Read more

The crepes are really wonderful! Service was more than a little slow but I think some more wine would have taken that edge off.

Quiet and classy. Fresh Crepes are great and a smattering of French food I did not expect. Sweet and savory, wine is just fine.... Ask about their Wine Club if you're a regular! :) Read more

Jim knows his wines. He's also very friendly and knowledgeable in Redding businesses. Some great restaurant recommendations.... This is a cozy place with an "at home" feel; very relaxing and inviting. I found some new favorite wines, and learned toappreciate some varietals that I had at one time written off. Go Here. You won't be disappointed. I'm going back for the BringYour Own Beef (BYOB) BBQ night. His wine club also deserves a closer look. Read more

After going through the trouble to set up a babysitter, my wife and I weren't in a hurry to head home after dinner. We wanted to... stay out just a little bit longer. We decided to wander into the grape Escape since we had heard good things. It was reallygreat. They have all kinds of different wines that you can order by the glass or by the bottle. They also have a simpleappetizer menu and some beers on tap as well. We ended up getting glasses of some Tobin James Petite Sirah and sitting on theirporch. There were some other really cool people there as well, and we became friends and just spent some time that eveningsitting on the porch talking over wine. What a great spot! Read more

Best wine bar in this area without a doubt. Not only does he carry a rotating selection of great wine, but it's also always at a... reasonable price. They also have beer and snacks, which is always a plus. If you like good wine I highly recommend swinging byhere Read more
