Reviews for The Hammondsville Tavern in Reading, VT
First of all, they need a better sign and lighting out front. It?s a black metal (or wrought iron) sign but it?s very difficult... to see and impossible to read if you?re coming from the north. Especially at night it?s hard to tell if they?re open. It?s agreat building with.nice atmosphere. The staff was the best thing about the place - super personable, helpful and efficient. They have a large variety of beer and wine but soda and cocktails are also available. The menu is fairly limited. Tried thebeer knots which are essentially fried nuggets of dough served with either marinara, ranch or cheesy jalapeño sauce. The saucetasted like it came from a jar. My fried chicken sandwich was very overcooked, dry and pretty flavorless. You have to pay $3.00to get a side of fries with your sandwich and they seemed like they were likely frozen from a bag. The iced tea had no flavorat all. I really wanted to like this restaurant since it?s fairly close by, but overall, I?d say it was mediocre at best. Read more
Great pub food reasonable prices! Gosha and staff are very friendly. Had a fun time!
Terrible waitstaff very rude couldn't have been more offended by the way I was treated
Love having a local watering hole! We went opening night and they were still working out some kinks. The prices were reasonable,... the food came quickly. Will update review after they?ve had a chance to work things out and find their feet. But give ?em achance, it?ll be great to see them grow and have them around. Eat local, peeps. Read more
Laid back, good food, pleasant staff. We will be back!
I think they're still working out some kinks, but this has potential to be a great local spot. Beer menu was expansive and... really reasonably priced. Read more
