My family went to mama chafes for dinner this evening with 2 little ones ages 1 and 2. Out server was the best I have ever had.... He was so pleasant and made every accommodation that we needed food wise because we had babies with us. Besides that, the foodwas so good. We had such an enjoyable evening. Great old fashion Italian food most, everything on menu is hand made onsite. Not to many places like this left. This place is amazing, such a hidden gem. A top 5 Italian restaurant for me where you wouldn?t expect it. Always have awesome... specials, amazing Godfather-like vibe without the violence. I moved out of the area last year and still come back to visitwhenever I can. A+. Read more
What great fun! I was raised in South Jersey and this is what I remember of being what I would call a real Italian Restaurant.... The owner is at the bar greats you, is on top of the actions of the staff and thanks you on the way out. I am from Lancaster,and the last restaurant that we had like this was the old Lombardo's. The atmosphere is perfect it could have been used in anySoprano episode without surprise. We ordered the Mozz. & Tomatoes and Garlic bread for appetizers and didn't finish them. Thehouse salad which comes complimentary with an entrée is not just lettuce but was actually good. I had the chicken parm and mydate had Rigatoni, both were excellent and neither finished. We ended with the coconut cake, which matched the rest of the meal.Service was excellent and finally found a restaurant that realized if you want to seal the deal with a good tip, when there areleftovers don't make the patron box them do it, give good service and complete the task. Came with a party of 6 to celebrate an anniversary and birthday - we were highly impressed. The food and atmosphere is... exceptional. As a vegetarian, my options were a bit limited but I was blown away by the eggplant parmesan with linguine!Leonardo was an excellent waiter - very good service and funny as well! Mom Chaffe?s is definitely one of the best places that serves Italian in the area, and is hands down the most authentic Italian... restaurant in the area. The food is absolutely phenomenal (especially the sauce), the staff is extremely friendly, and theatmosphere is like nothing else you?ll experience anywhere else near by! My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary which was also NYE. We loved it so much we came back for a regular dinner.... Both times were great! AMBIANCE: This is such a cute and quaint place that makes you feel at home immediately. The restaurantis in the basement of a townhome building so the ceilings are a bit low. It?s dimly lit making it very romantic. The servers arevery friendly and are always happy to tell you what the specials are. FOOD: The food here is definitely traditional Italiangrandma cooked food. The tomato sauce is a bit sweet to us but that?s a personal thing. The ravioli is filled with deliciouscheese that you get in every bite. The lasagna is a large portion that you can save for later, a very hearty place. DESSERT: Ineeded a separate section for this. The cheesecake is to die for! The best cheesecake I?ve ever had! We?ve only tried theoriginal which is served with strawberries. Each time we?ve had it, it melted in our mouths and we savored every bite. Loveit! We look forward to visiting this place again.
