Spent the night in Raton during a Labor Day weekend trip and decided to give this one a try. I am sorry to say that this was the... worst BBQ that I have eaten in my entire life (60+ years). We ordered a three meat plate for 2. The turkey was very dry with agritty texture, the sliced brisket was also very dry and crumbly with no flavor, I am not sure how to describe the ribs (justnot good). On a positive note - the service was great. Our waitress was one of the best that I have seen in a long time. I willnot be back for a do over and cannot recommend this establishment to anyone... Wow - what a wonderful place with fantastic food! We ordered the nachos with half brisket and half pulled pork. HUGE portions!... We tried all the BBQ sauces and I loved the blueberry habanero and my husband preferred the Tennessee and the howling hot sauce. The brisket and pulled pork were fantastic and we plan on shipping some of the BBQ sauces home. Most everything is homemade andabsolutely delicious! I did not think it was overpriced at all (as some people have suggested). If you want good, hand craftedfood made by people who care about what they serve, it might cost more than pre-assembled. Read more

Disappointed on this takeout order. Asked for ribs and sliced brisket. Ribs not available on a Saturday afternoon. Got chopped... brisket (small amount) instead on combo order with fried okra and sweet potato for $19. Used to be great place for BBQ in Raton. No longer the case. Only open Thur thru Sat. No longer can recommend. Stick to ordering hamburgers from there now. Too bad forRaton customers. Read more

Cool looking place, good service, below average food. We split a combo for one and it was plenty of food for us. The ribs?cold... and tough, seemed like they maybe needed a few more hours in the smoker. The sausage tasted good but it didn?t have much smokeflavor. The chopped beef was also lacking flavor. The coleslaw was average too. Sadly the best thing on the platter was thefrozen okra they fried. Maybe I?m spoiled from eating good barbecue in the south but this doesn?t measure up to true BBQ IMO. The Historic Ice House is a site to behold. Indoor and out it has lots of memorabilia to set the atmsophere. The service was... friendly and fast, the lemonade had virtually no sweetness, the hamburger was excellent, the french fries merely warm and waytoo limp. I'll give it another try and have the BBQ they are famous for in order to give them a more rounded review. Read more

The okra was amazing. The brisket was solid, but expected a bigger portion. 3-4 slices instead of 2 for $18 would have been a... better value. Good nonetheless. Service was excellent. Read more
