Unfortunately we recently had a terrible experience here (just yesterday ). We used to love it here and I even had my medical... school graduation catered here a decade ago. Since the pandemic, this restaurant isn?t the same. Perhaps it?s a staffshortage. We arrived and asked to be seated outside. The hostess actually didn?t know if there was a table available and askedguests sitting around if their neighboring table was available ???????????my toddler was running around and my newborn was beingrocked and after 15 minutes of zero service I went and asked her if anyone was going to come and actually take our order. Herresponse was ?we didn?t know if you?re staying.? So if you have a guest hanging out 15-20 minutes around the table and you haveto guess if they?re staying or not, you lack some serious common sense. She could have just approached us and asked if it wasthst confusing. I got NO apology. The waiter said ?it?s my first day back since the pandemic.? In fact, neither of them seemedto care that we were visibly upset. The hostess brought water and not a peep. Her ego was bigger than her head to not even beable to provide good customer moving on. We ordered and food took about an hour to come!! The restaurant didn?t even have thatmany people. No bread served nothing (if you?re gonna take forever to give us food at least bring a basket of bread). The waiternever once updated us on our order or apologized for taking forever. He also never checked in to see if everything tastedOK. My chicken dish was dry as a bone. The pasta was watery. The only good thing was the burger. We will never come back hereagain. Read more

My wife had the Angle hair spaghetti and Shrimp, I had The Hamburger cooked absolutely to perfection (medium rare). Both meals... were AWESOME!!! However, the appetizer was INCREDIBLE!! It was the meatball in a special sauce. Read more

While staying at the Marriott in Rancho Cordova, I decided to go downstairs and have breakfast at Formaggio. I was seated, then... looked around and found that I was the only person having breakfast other than one other table with two people . So it wasn'tvery busy. The staff seemed nice. What I did not understand is that my order of two poached eggs over a potato hash with baconand hollandaise sauce, showed up more room temperature than hot. The Poached Eggs weren't runny and that the Hollandaise saucehad already seized up and set. So how do you not get served hot food at a non busy restaurant of this style. It's not aDenny's. The sad thing is, if the Hollandaise sauce had been served warm and the yolk was runny, it would have been a moretasty dish and worth experiencing. We ordered food at the bar to go to eat by the pool and take to the room late Sunday evening. It took a very long time for... someone to help us at the hostess stand, then even longer for someone at the bar to take our order. Not a lot of options on themenu, especially simple options for kids. The food was good, we ordered a variety of apps and an entree to split. The sausageappetizer was one sausage split down the middle. Read more

Over priced for semi-decent food. Ordered spaghetti n meatballs. Was expecting at least a slice of garlic bread with it.

went in around 10pm and only the bar was open. the staff was still really nice and made a pretty strong bacon old fashioned;... it's exactly as it sounds. most likely won't ever order it again, but it was a good experience got the fried calamari and shrimpto split and the calamari was good! not overcooked out chewy Read more

Formaggio pleasantly surprised me for dinner and breakfast. Staying at the hotel, I was just too damned lazy to take an Uber to... an "outside" eatery, so "settled" for what I thought would be another mediocre restaurant within a hotel. Such was not thecase. The staff are friendly and attentive. The menu (especially for dinner) nicely varied. For dinner, I (daringly) sprangfor the grilled salmon (rare) with veggies and rice pilaf. The salmon was perfectly crisped to a nice sear on the outside yetpink, fleshy, and juicy inside. It tasted very fresh. Excellent! The veggies were tender crisp and tasty. This meal pairedvery nicely with a glass of their higher-end Pinot Noir. Dessert was affogato (Italian coffee-based dessert: a shot of espressopoured over a scoop of locally-made vanilla gelato) and a great way to end the meal. Prices are reasonable, given the foodquality. If ever in the area again, would not hesitate to eat dinner here. Breakfast the next morning was similarly deliciouswith equally good service. Read more
