By no means is this cheap, but the food is oooh sooooo goooooood! We got 5 items and shared between 3 people. Pretty much... finished everything. Their staple menu item - the mac and cheese was an instant hit. Pisto grit cakes, pimento cheese saltinesand tartare thing (I forgot the name of it) were a wonderful blend of flavors and textures. Cocktails were sufficiently strongand beer selection was superb. Waiters were excellent and kept a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm throughout theday. Bathrooms were clean. The dessert and digestive alcohol at the end was a nice touch. Definitely coming here again. Nowonder this place has gotten so many rewards and recommendations! Read more

This place is always so good. They also do a great job of having some delicious and unique vegetarian options. There’s a few... staple items like their famous Mac and cheese, true southern style, but they usually have new items pretty regularly. Itsdefinitely a Raleigh staple. Cocktails are always top notch too. They have some really great bartenders. Read more

One of the best of Raleigh. The first place I suggest to folks from out of town looking for a taste of the city’s restaurant... scene. 1940s diner decor upscaled to a farm to table type menu written on chalkboards. Some staple items persist across menuchanges - the Mac and cheese is divine. Otherwise expect fresh new American options that will delight. Save room for dessert asthey do it well. Service is excellent. Now taking reservations, and you’ll need one. Read more

Poole's is a go-to spot in Raleigh for elevated and thoughtful comfort food. The shareable Macaroni Au Gratin is an absolute... must every single time. This past visit, we also ordered a fresh tomato dish and the roast pork cheek; both were delicious andwell portioned. The service is always great and the drink menu has a ton of options. Try to snag an earlier reservation if youcan; they begin to run out of dishes and cocktails later in the night! Read more

Delicious! I've never had anything bad here. Last time I went, I had the pork cheeks which were divine, the asparagus which was... to die for, and the Mac and cheese which is legendary. We started off with pimento cheese and fried saltines-- sounds weird butwas so yummy and addictive! Service was great too! Read more

My fiancé and I were brought here by some friends that said we had to try this place while visiting NC and they were so right.... We started with the pimento cheese with fried saltines, caramelized onion tart with bacon and Gruyère, and Macaroni au gratin. All of these dishes were equally delicious and I would recommend trying all of them, as it would be hard to pick one of themover the others. For entrees, we ordered the rabbit, short ribs and chicken and those were all 5 star as well. The rabbit hadgreat texture and interesting noodle topped with carrot shreds that added a nice touch. The short ribs were tender and fellapart as you paired it with the Swiss chard and sauce. The chicken was extremely flavorful as well and fell off the bone and wasserved over a bed of mashed potatoes. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the items listed in this review. Therestaurant had a great ambiance as well with a cozy diner feel to it. We had a late reservation on Friday night (9pm) and theplace was still surprisingly busy, I would recommend getting a reservation. The plates are rich in flavor and expensive, buttotally worth the price for the quality that you get. This place is a must try if coming to NC. Read more
