Reviews for Piccola Italia in Raleigh, NC
The marinara sauce taste like tomato soup. It was very orange in color. So odd to have soup over pasta. I was hungry and tried... to eat it but finally just picked out mostly some pasta without the sauce and ate it with the bread. Two stars for the bread. Read more
Great pizza usually, but they are closed for renovations as of September 30th but Google has no idea. We showed up and they're... closed, I would call ahead if it hasn't been that long since this post to make sure they're open. Read more
If you want your waitress to be condescending and roll her eyes in front of your family when you simply ask if a recipe can be... made without wine then this is the place! Her name is Naslie! Read more
Piccola Italia has been a Raleigh establishment since 1982. I remember coming here since I was a little girl so I had to make... this review longer than usual to do justice. It's authentic, traditional home-cooked Italian food at its best and the ownerFrank, true to his Italian roots, always asks me about my parents and makes me feel welcome like family. I think a lot of peoplemiss this place because it's not trying to be glitzy or glamorous, it's a comfortable family setting, but after 40 years inbusiness the food still has that same special something - and my dad eats here every week! My favorites are the pizza and thepasta. The pizza is hand tossed with a crispy crust and homemade tomato sauce. The Tomato Sauce is the BEST in TOWN - smooth andrich in flavor (the Marinara is a more bold and chunky sauce if you're into that)! The pasta is delicious and always al dente -just be sure to ask for the parmesan if it's not on the table (gluten free pasta is also really good). Sicilian Pizza is Amazing- order ahead of time for that. Meatballs and sausage also delicious. Thank you Frank and to your family for the labor of loveto keep this place alive through fires, recessions and remodels - for my family it's a home away from home - Authentic Italianat its Best. Food is excellent. Gluten free options include pizza and pasta. The gluten free pizza I tried is amongst the best I have had.... Sandwiches and other items were also amazing. Cappuccino was also good. Overall, a pleasant experience indeed and would visitagain. Read more
We did not have a great experience at all. We were greeted by a nice waiter, but then we had to run after our hostess to keep up... with her, she slammed the menus on our table and walked away, didn't even look at us. Our waiter was very nice and he did aswell as he could. But everything we ordered was just unacceptable. The complementary bread was cold and came with packagedbutter. My boyfriend's dish had more sauce than it did pasta, and my dish was extremely saucy as well. He ordered the sun driedtomato and pesto pasta and he couldn't even eat more than 4 bites. The shrimp scampi I ordered was decent, but still needed alot of work. My boyfriend's packaged saltine cracker with his soup was stale and he also found a hair in his food. It was a veryunfortunate experience and we paid way too much for what we got. Read more
This is the best place for authentic Italian food. Natasha is the most beautiful and talented restaurateur. She always... delivers fantastic service and food. The spaghetti and meatballs are to die for. The pizza is divine. The wine choices arefantastic. The desserts are heavenly. If I could I would give this restaurant 10 out of 5 stars. Read more
Oh how disappointing it was last night. They completely modernized the restaurant, so it doesn't have that old Italian feel... anymore. They must have a diff chef because it just wasn't as good as it once was. Also, they were out of butter...and Caesardressing....they are located behind a Harris Teeter, take a hike. Read more
