I've never been disappointed here. I had the local lettuces salad that had salty feta and olives with watermelon, the smoked... oysters, and the ricotta dumplings. I loved it all, but became a little jealous when my neighbor's seasonal quiche arrivedlooking like tomato pie. He destroyed it and said it was a bit like cheese pizza, in a good way. The atmosphere and decor was on point. Loved the seating, no wait, food came out promptly and service was decent. My issue is, I... ordered a deep dish. It was very undercooked underneath. Extremely white undercarriage and raw dough in center undercheese. Took forever to get a re-cook. Second time was perfect it seemed. Undercarriage looked great, but the dough above theundercarriage and beneath the cheese in center of pizza was still doughy and raw. Whatever oven they use is not fully cookingany of the pizzas in middle of pie. They gave us some free dessert, but surely not worth $16 for that personal pie. Such a cute spot got brunch. I had the chicken and waffles with an iced latte. The food was great and my server was fantastic!... They do take reservations and parking is super easy. They have options to eat inside and outside. Read more
We came from out of town for a concert and decided to try Hummingbird on our way back home. We visited on Mother’s Day at... lunch time and were surprised to be immediately seated outdoors by a heater. The service was great, but the food lacked flavorand we didn’t think the restaurant lived up to the hype. The biscuits and gravy weren’t actually on a biscuit, it was morelike a burnt flatbread. The grits are very clumpy, grainy, and overall flavorless without the cheese. The burger was cookednicely, but there was no flavor despite the high quality meat. The home fries we cooked properly but had no seasoning. We alsoordered a Thai tea - it had no cream/milk and was essentially sugar water… and the golden milk latte is okay. It was pretty ok but for the hype I was just a little underwhelmed after excitedly looking forward to brunch here. The Blood... Mary came with no pickled veggies like it said on the menu though my particular Life Hack cocktail was excellent. One of theeggs on the huevos rancheros (meant to be over easy) was over cooked so no nice runny yoke and there was nothing particularlyunique to their take on this dish. My monte cristo was good but I’ve had better. The cheese grits were just ok but at least agood sized portion. Perhaps it’s just what we ordered or maybe staff was just exhausted during a busy time. We went for brunch on Easter Sunday. The staff was friendly, drinks were fresh and delicious, food was super flavorful. Be sure... to grab an order of the Riccotta Fritters they are a MUST! The best chicken and waffles I have ever had! One of thee tastiest brunch spots in Raleigh! Make reservations so your sure to have a seat as this location is smaller. Read more
My wife and I have heard all the hype surrounding Hummingbird and can confirm that it lives up to the hype, Hummingbird is... completely legit. The service was awesome and the food was stellar. I had the Monte Cristo with homefries and the remoulade.???????? My wife decided on the Peacemaker Po’Boy with chips and devoured it. Everything rocks about Hummingbird; the food,the atmosphere and decor, and the service. Absolute homerun for a place to bring friends and family for a great meal. Read more
Saturday morning brunch, just a random stop in and it was full, but they were able to seat us at the bar. The food was quick and... delicious (their house potato chips are legit), the bartenders were friendly and engaging- I would go here again to try them fordinner. Read more
