A staple for seafood in Raleigh even if oysters are not your thing. Always good, often great with a variety of seafood and ways... it is prepared. My swordfish was awesome. The popcorn shrimp were a bit over breaded this time, although still tasty. Drinkswhether iced tea, wine, or cocktails were good. Definitely recommend when in a seafood mood. Be sure to make reservations unlessyou want to eat in the bar area. Read more

I really enjoyed my experience! Sat at the bar and had a variety of food paired with white wine. Topped it off with key lime... pie. The menu has a lot to offer. They start you off with a basket of hush puppies and sweet butter. The calamari was verycalamari, thick wholesome bites. The crab cake was a real crab cake, very yummy. The ahi tuna was yummy too. Lol overall, checkit out for yourself, I liked what I had! Read more

This was my second time at 42nd Street Oyster Bar. Our server was courteous, and moderately attentive so no complaints there. I... had the Shrimp and Grits, and my father had the Shimp and Crab Linguine. Both dishes just OK. They weren't strong in flavor atall. I did enjoy the complimentary hush puppies. I'll probably be back, but I think I'll stick to the oysters and friedplatters. Read more

The service was really good and it was a nice atmosphere. Scallops were delicious but a little too burned for my liking, and... the steak was cooked well but it wasn't seasoned at all- same with the mashed potatoes. I know some people prefer that naturaltaste, though. For that reason I subtracted a star, but overall it was a good experience and I'd try to eat something else nexttime! Read more

My first time ever coming to 42nd St and I’m a Raleigh native! My friends came into town and wanted seafood and this place did... not disappoint! The experience was wonderful. I got the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The bacon wrapped scallops werealso very good. My cocktail was also delicious. I would definitely return. Read more

Absolutely excellent! Their crab legs and chicken tenders were delectable, and the bartenders are wonderful. I went on... Valentine's so the tables were booked, but you can sit at the bar. All in all a great experience! Read more

Wonderful restaurant. Service and food both excellent. I had the flounder special that was light and delicious. My father-in-law... had the very tasty, slightly spicy shrimp and grits. The bacon wrapped scallops are awesome. I’ve had their collards in thepast and they are great. Nice selection of oysters if you like those. Read more
