Reviews for 42 & Lawrence in Raleigh, NC
My son and I stopped for coffee, tea, and a ham pastry. The beverages were the best I've had in years but that's no surprise as... the staff uses hand-crafted brewing methods unlike other places. The staff was friendly and attentive. The pastry case containedconfections that rose to daring heights. I conspired to get completely inside the case but feared I'd never emerge from it.Guess I'll settle for more visits and calibrated portions of pastry. Read more
Today was my first time going to 42 & Lawrence. I was pleasantly surprised. The coffee was a 6/10, I wasn?t wowed but it was... good. The pricing was reasonable, but what made this a five-star experience was the fact that my little dog was able to come inwith me! One of the workers even offered her a pup cup, which she gladly accepted. I will be coming here often, as I travelwith my dog everywhere and now we have a coffee shop we both can enjoy! Read more
Wonderful little Café. Especially the women that served us. The coffee is super tasty and I can highly recommend the... Lemon-Muffin! Read more
Decided to work from the coffee shop one day and this spot was recommended. It is pretty small but cute. Not as warm as I would... expect for a coffee shop but it was downtown Raleigh. My Latte was cold when they gave it to me which is weird. When I toldthem, they were very hesitant to redo it. Informed me they did not have a microwave. I said "good thing I don't want you toreheat my drink ". They then made it over. Read more
My wife and I got to have coffee here when we visited Raleigh. This place is great and the people were very friendly. The only... thing is it was a little pricey. My wife got the Hazelnut Latte and I got the Chai Tea Latte. It was very delicious! Read more
Wish I could give them 2 stars but I think one is more than what they deserve. Starting with costume service, the guy was fine... and very friendly and even apologized for the drink we ordered. However, the female employee with green hair and tattoos wasquite unwelcoming and even showed some attitude when we asked the drink was not what we ordered. Their hot drinks are amazingbtw. Other thing I didn't like it when I was about to order the baristas were busy among each other making jokes and whisperingwhile I was waiting there and felt ignored. Overall, if you want the hot beverages, sure but not for any cold drinks. Thepastries are overpriced too, $3.75 for a small nut bread muffin. Read more
I believe that this place can work on their customer service skills, specifically one of the lady who had no interaction with me... but rang me up based on what I told her co-worker. One of the drinks I ordered was a summer special drink, Hibiscus Fizz, and itwas very sweet. I love sparkling/seltzer water but not too sweet. When I told the lady it was too sweet she told me I should ofordered it with less sweetener. I ended up getting the Maghribi tea which was pretty good. The shop is a bit expensive. Overall,I may come back just for their teas. Read more
Named for a Hitchhiker?s Guide to the Galaxy reference (and for local roaster Larry Larson), it is perhaps somewhat fitting that... this gem of a coffee shop has become our annual post-GalaxyCon caffeinate-and-cool off destination. While it boasts a sleekmodern ambiance and welcoming staff, the biggest draw can be summed up in two words: coffee flights. With options includingnitro cold brews, draft lattes, and more, this is a great way to sample a bit of everything and still get your caffeine fix. They are my wife?s go-to order while I usually opt for one of the seasonal drinks. The orange creamsicle I tried during our mostrecent visit isn?t something I would repeat, but I do credit them for trying out a variety of syrups and flavors. There areplenty of coffee shops in Downtown Raleigh, but if you can abide by the limited seating, 42 and Lawrence offers all the strongcoffee, inventive flavorings, and charm that you need. Read more
