Chicken leg rice was good, large portion at an affordable price. Only negative was that the restaurant didn't make an... accommodation for an order error even though our table ordered a $100 worth of food. Parking lot available in the back. Read more

Went for the first time, overall experience and food were okay. I ordered braised pork over rice. It was okay, was expecting... more sour taste of the preserved vegetables. the braised pork was too sweet to my taste. The place is cash only, make sure tobring cash before getting a table. Went before lunch time and when we were about to finish the waitress put the bill on thetable before asking for it. There was a line when we finished our brunch. Thank goodness we went at the right time for brunch. They also have a parking lot in the back, which we found out after we paid parking on the street. Read more

Cash only but worth it. I really like it here and the dishes are really authentic/reasonably priced. The service is fast both... for wait staff and food coming out. Place always has at least one customer and is clearly popular. You can order in English orMandarin. The tea is really nice too. My friend and Taiwanese mother love this place. Read more

The problem with most so called "Taiwanese" restaurants in the US, is they have only serve about 5 or so taiwanese stuff, which... can be all exhausted in one sitting with a couple of friends. Sadly, the overwhelming stuff are chinese american styled disheswith generic american styled soya sauce based sauces. Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant, though, have many, many dishes, veryauthentic taiwanese specialty dishes including taiwanese (stewed pork with rice) rou ba bon, rou gen noodle soup, oyster orhamee sua, and taiwanese beef noodle soup. They also have pig liver dishes, oyster omelette, stinky tofu, clam ginger soup, andlots more. Are they as good as youd find in Taiwan? The answer is no. But its the closest so far in my search to satiate mytaiwanese cravings. Someone also recommended Nan Bei Ho in bayside queens. Ive yet to try, but their menu and photos areextremely tempting. Thats my next stop. Cheers. Read more

We came for Sunday lunch with a party of 7 (called ahead to make a reservation) and sat at one of the few large tables with a... Lazy Susan. Two Taiwanese American friends had picked the spot as a Taiwanese favorite, suggesting Elmhurst (a little closer tothe rest of the group that lived in Manhattan) as a Flushing-alternative. It feels like a family-owned and family-frequentedspot, as we saw many multi-generational parties on that Sunday afternoon. They had a lot of homestyle and street food dishes youdon't typically see at restaurants - stinky tofu included! Note it is cash only! We also ordered the pork chop, basil friedchicken, oyster omelette, braised pork over rice, a vegetable dish, and Atlantic cod with savory crispy beans (personal favorite- I could eat that shallot oil over rice as a meal itself). The food was all delicious, and I enjoyed coming with a large groupsince we were able to try more things. It was incredible value (~$20pp with tax and tip, and being extremely full) - hard tofind in Manhattan, and even Flushing these days. Service was fairly minimal, but I think thats a sign of the most legit Asianrestaurants. I will definitely come again with other friends! Read more

This place was so good! It tasted so much like home / Taiwan that I felt emotional while eating. Good service, food came out... quick, and tasted CORRECT. Recommend the fly heads, stinky tofu, and pork chop. Read more

Best dining out experience I?ve had in awhile. Had the fly heads, sautéed pea greens, and the fried chicken. All were amazing,... but the fried chicken was the best I have had in awhile. It had great seasoning, an interesting sweetness to it, and the herbson top were a nice touch. The staff were friendly. Will definitely come back Read more
