I went to Blu on a Thursday night to find it was ladies night/happy hour. This meant there was a discount on appetizers and... drinks. I had the seafood egg rolls the fish tacos and the sweet chili shrimp! I thought the egg rolls would come as regularsize egg rolls but it was more like spring roll size. They had shrimp and crab meat inside but I'm not too sure I tasted crabmeat. The fish tacos were good. The sweet chili shrimp were nice and big. The place isn't too big but it's nice and intimate.Big screens tv's and nice decor. The waitress was very attentive. The appetizers were in the range of $8-$11 and there was likea $2-$3 discount on top of that for each item because of ladies night! Read more
5 Stars is not enough this place is a 10/10. The food was amazing so rich and flavorful and the portion was HUGE, I had the... Paella and it was honestly like 3 dishes in one definitely couldn?t finish in one sitting. I also had the most excellent servicefrom my waitress Ashley she did such a wonderful job catering to our needs and in a timely manner as well. Went for happy hour got appetizers & drinks. Wings & coconut shrimp was on point. Music was excellent not too loud it was at an... enjoyable volume so u can still have a conversation. Drinks were good. Atmosphere was nice. Service was pretty good, i read theprevious reviews about slow service, we didn't experience that. The atmosphere is good but after 10pm it's like a club (not my cup of tea). But the appetizers I had was good, drinks good but... my food had was salty ( the lobster mac and cheese) and over cooked ( the lobster) bit the grilled chicken and pasta was goodjust to spicy for me. Went Saturday night, Fish taco was great! One of the female owners was amazing as far as customer service. Security was very... professional. We had a wait due to prior reservations which I wasn?t aware of but we waited in the car and I can?t lie theexperience was worth it. Dj was great with the throwbacks but waitress need a bit more training when it comes to high volumeplace like that, Waited a bit long for drinks and shots we ordered. Looks nice but I wouldn't go here again. It was freezing inside. Everyone around us was complaining as we watched the server... constantly rub her hands together. Three people came in and walked out after 4 min. After ordering our food at 5:34.... ourmeals came out at 7:19. The codfish fritters were sooo salty I had to send them back and they came with no sauce. My food wasextremely salty. I ordered the Hennessy salmon and shrimp.. they dumped a bunch of salty sauce over my food. I just wrapped itup but I won't revisit that meal. My cousin's food was not the best..she got a seafood boil. It was very expensive and took damnnear 2 hours to come out. After this experience I would go somewhere else. It is horrible to sit somewhere with your coat on andscarf because it's cold inside. The drinks are not all that and very pricey. I WILL not be going here ever again.. even ourneighbors sitting next to us agreed..we all said.. we should have went to Voodoo crab???????????.. 2 stars 1 for cleanliness and 1 because it's black owned...but that's all I'm giving. My boyfriend told me he heard about this new seafood restaurant in the neighborhood and I should try the crab legs since it?s... one of my favorites. I was skeptical at first because I have tried 2 other seafood spots in the area and they were lackluster atbest. But I was craving some crab legs and figured I would give it a try. I called and placed a take out order and right fromthe start the lady who took my take out was pleasant, patient and helpful. I ordered the sweet chili wings, escovitch friedsnapper and a double order of the crab boil ( just in case the crabs were small which I hate that) with the corn and potatoes ingarlic butter sauce. I went to pick up my order and the spot is nice. It?s modern with a perfect size bar and a dj booth thatlooks like an IG moment. The staff was pleasant. Now to the important part. I was so pleased to see that my snow crab legs was anice chunky size full of good crab meat. The corn was sweet and the potatoes steamed to perfection. The boil was very flavorfuland not salty thank gosh! In all the reviews I have given over the years for food to travel I have never given 5 stars. This isa neighborhood seafood gem that was definitely needed. I will be hitting this place up soon for a cocktail and many more seafoodboils to come. Now since it?s only been open for a month, I beg for mgmt. to keep up with the great customer service , friendlystaff, quality and portion of the food. Surprisingly nice late night spot. I must admit I often over look places on Merrick Blvd but I?m glad I gave them a try. I was... looking for a place to dine on late Friday night. This place surely delivered. We showed up a bit after 11pm. There is asecurity check before entry. The place is kind of small but the it was full of energy. The drinks are pretty decent, prices arecomparable to LI restaurants and the food was delicious. Aside from dinning in, I definitely would order food to go. Read more
