Reviews for Chez Rioux & Pettigrew in Québec, QC
If I could give this place six stars I would. I’m actually shocked that this place does not have a Michelin star. Everything... was tremendous. Wine pairings were amazing, cocktails even better. Ambience is great, everyone is very friendly and before yourmeal they actually tell you all about your food and where it comes from and what’s in it. Worth the journey if you’re everin Quebec city this is the place to go. Read more
The staff were all extremely kind, and managed to find me a place as a walk-in and adapt the tasting menu (3 savoury dishes, a... small amuse-bouche, and dessert for $79) to be entirely vegetarian. At the bar, they have an array of alcohol-free "spirits",and the bartender even came up with a drink on the fly based on my tastes. Read more

I chose the chef’s selection of 5 courses - a small entree, 3 salty dishes, sweet dessert - with the 4 wine pairings.... Incredible, outstanding, the unusual and creative combination of ingredients perfectly divine. Works of art for the palate andthe eye. I would give 10 stars. I’m only sad that the photo of the entree didn’t come out. Exceptional service seated at thebar, too. Read more
Excellent service, great food using local seasonal ingredients. Went with the tasting menu which is basically smaller portions... of the main but it gives you a survey of their offerings. Their dishes give you that sense of the chefs expressions, a walkthrough the forest or a dip in the ocean. Read more
An elevated way to end off my evening. Came to this place wanting oysters originally, but was dazzled by the cocktails and also... the bartender and his knowledge in creating drinks as if painting on a canvas. A nice selection of background music, paired withthe ambient lighting. A must-go-to spot to for good drinks, good oysters, and a good night. Read more

My wife and I spent a lovely dinner at Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. It is by far the most upscale restaurant we have probably eaten... at in terms of quality of ingredients, artistic presentation, and service quality. We had their standard prix fixe menu, with anorder of oysters. The bartender really sold us on the oysters and I love oysters. They were not the best I have ever had, theywere good, but the downside was that they prepared a savoury whipped cream with the oysters and didn't really give us the chanceto taste the oyster on its own. Every course we had, was just a spectacle of detail and art. Personally for me, I just enjoygood tasting food whereas my wife loves the artistic appeal done in cuisine. It has that michelin star like quality andambience. I cannot describe every dish at the level they had mentioned. But I will try to conceptually lay it out. And I amcertain this is a seasonal menu, so can't guarantee you would get something like this again. 1. Smoked Sturgeon with microgreens, 2. Deconstructed French Onion Soup, 3. Striploin, jus, and vegetables, 4. Apple themed dessert. Every dish was tasty, the first dish started strong with a smoked sturgeon, cooked perfectly, not overly salty and an elegant presentation. I wasn't ahuge fan of the deconstructed French Onion Soup but it was delicious, a good palate cleanser for the next course. The steak wasa special breed of cow in QC, the cut was striploin I believe and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. All the flavoursworked really well together, a great balance, and the sauces were on point. The dessert was the probably the greatest course.Everything was apple themed, the ice cream was apple flavour and it was amazing. The dacquoise looking think had amazing balanceof sweetness with the ice cream and it didn't feel tart at all. There was apple cider vinegar jelly and it was interesting, butadded a nice acidity to the overall dish. Overall, it was a wonderfully crafted menu, with a good balance Read more
