Reviews for Oregano Italian Kitchen in Provo, UT
Can an Italian joint in a hotel in Provo be really great? We had an average meal here. The food was well prepared, but did not... stand out in any way - in fact, my entree was bland (Italian Feast). I can think of several things I?d change right off thebat. Serving bread? How about having oil and vinegar on the table? Or, how about offering fresh ground pepper and Parmesan witha pasta entree? Bottom line is the chef is just not trying very hard, but hey, this is Provo. There were also quality issueswith cold entrees and desserts with missing elements. Ambiance and service were average. I've only been here a couple of times -- once at their old location, and once at their newest location -- but both times I left... feeling basically the same: the food is great but not excellent; the service is great but not excellent; but the price is highenough that I expect excellent. Basically, I feel like I'm paying for a 5-star experience, but only actually receiving a 4-starmeal. Which is still a great meal, don't get me wrong, but the discrepancy between what was expected and what was realized ishard for me to get over. Read more
We had I very nice experience. The chef has apparently competed and won a number of competitions and it shows. We visited on a... rainy Thursday evening so not busy at all. Yet they had plenty of staff - and our server was attentive but did a very nice jobof giving us space to enjoy. My choice was a Cajun linguine with blacked chicken. It was perfect on the spices - not overpowering the pasta. The chicken was just a touch dry, but more than acceptable in achieving the "blackened affect". Oh, andalmost forgot, live piano - on an off night even - over the top. Worth out rainy drive from Alpine UT. PLEASE visit. I thinkyou'll be surprised. Read more
i just don't understand this place. is it semi fine dining. is it a Diner style. is it really Italian? just didn't get it. and i... guess next time i want a real Malibu Chicken, ill just have to go to Sizzler. And the Marinara tasted like Ragu out of a can.why cant I just find some really fresh Italian food? and if the Chef needs a place to wipe his hands, he should try the handtowel's in the restroom. Not on his Chefs Coat. Read more
Absolutely delicious! We visited for anniversary and we're pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service. The... atmosphere was beautiful due to a patio overlooking a lovely brook and garden. Romantic big band music played during dinner. Thefood was rich, and plated well. We enjoyed a specialty Italian soda, a steak, the gnocchi with the rosa sauce, and a decadentlemon cake for dessert. They also provided complimentary garlic knots which are just the right texture and always came outfresh. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. If it's this good on a Wednesday night, I imagine it would be even better on aweekend. 5 stars. Read more
