We made reservations about a week before my birthday and the wait staff was able to find it immediately and get us seated. Our... waiter was fabulous as was our food. We ordered a four-course meal and everything was delicious. The lobster bisque was trulydelicious and satisfying, especially with a few dips of the Parker rolls! Our waiter was very attentive during our nearly twohour meal. My husband and I ordered our four courses upfront and then went deep into conversation. We really appreciated howsmoothly our waiter checked on us without disrupting the flow of the conversation. Our food was smoothly served and dishes weretaken at every point. When it came to dessert time I was honestly as stuffed as one could get. I ordered a cup of Irish Creamcoffee, it was a bit strong and I couldn't drink it. The waiter insisted I have it replaced with something else I liked beingthe birthday girl and all. I let him know it was okay, if I had anything else I felt like my side would burst. I wasn't evenable to finish my lamb chops (last course) which were SUPERB!! Do not balk at the fact they are cooked to about medium well. The sesame, the sauces, the tenderness of the meat and seasoning of it all just brings it all together into a mouth-wateringlayered taste. For the most part, this was the case for all of our food, layered flavors. Take your time and let the food siton your palette. It is sooooo good!! We were so busy talking I only thought to take a picture once the last course arrived. We will be back, our anniversary is right around the corner and hopefully by then we can try the fall season menu!! Read more

This was our first visit to Verbena which opened in mid-2020. It was a perfect Saturday evening in KC metro area and we were... committed to finding place we hadn't tried that offered al fresco dining. Immediately Verbena came to mind and we excitedlydressed appropriately for this casual fine dining experience. Arriving at the property which was formerly Meadowbrook CountryClub that has recently been developed into a mix of retail, residential and upscale apartments. This complex is stunning, located in Johnson County Kansas side of the metro area. Combined with the breeze the low humidity and temps in the high 70s wefelt transported to ShangriLa (That's a good thing right?). As we approached the restaurant we noticed everybody parked alongthe street leading to the establishment so we found the closest spot available and perfectly parallel parked our chariot. Wequickly exited our vehicle with both a sense of excitement and nervousness. Will it be too full? How long before we'd be seated?OMG what a beautiful night! As we approached Verbena we walked right past the outdoor dining area and it was a gorgeous settingwith stone, string lights, beautiful and massive flower arrangements, a lakeview and many people enjoying the experience. Onceinside a warm and friendly hostess approached us and asked if we had a reservation. We cheerfully said no but that was okaybecause we were going to sit outside. Her smile narrowing ever so slightly told me everything I needed to know... We were goingto be eating inside ???? Like the professional gourmands that we fancy ourselves to be we took it in stride. It was our firstmeal of the day so we were anxious to get the ball rolling. Perusing through their offerings of adult beverages they had a verygood selection of wines which is expected, some interesting cocktails if a little on the sweet side. Surprisingly no Manhattan'sor Old fashioned on the menu which have made a huge comeback the last few years. No worries you can Read more
