We came across the Zulu Hut while wandering Portsmouth looking for a dinner spot and thought, "South African? That'll be... something new." Very glad we went up the stairs to try it. The hostess and server were very friendly, with South Africanaccents, and we got seats by the windows looking over the river. My wife had a chicken curry dish, which was delicious, and Ihad the farmer's sausage with potatoes, green beans, and onions - which were recommended by our server, who said she grew upeating that meal. And no wonder. It was delicious comfort food. Will definitely return next time we're in Portsmouth. Read more
Being South-African I was happy to hear that a South-African restaurant had opened in Portsmouth NH. I immediately called my... friends and we made a reservation. We were greeted with a warm smile and a S.A accent. We were made to feel right at home in thecozy African themed restaurant. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The menu had a good selection of SA food. Aselection I feel would favor the American pallet. I would highly recommend the Zulu Hut to anyone that wants to experience somegreat friendly South-African hospitality and some delicious S.A food. We would go back again and again. Read more

I?ve been to the Zulu Hut twice now - both times have been very enjoyable - the lamb meatballs are very tasty. I only heard... positive comments around me about the food - I even heard someone order a dinner to go so they could try another dish the nextday! The view is awesome - there are 3 window tables - with one being good for a small group tucked into a corner - but even ifyou don?t get a window seat you will still be able to see the harbor from your table. Nice selection of SA wines - beers are bythe bottle. Read more
