Charged me for two hot chocolates and I only ordered one forgot about my sandwich. I had to ask for it 5 times because the old... lady couldn?t remember my order. I did get a cookie for the wait time. Food was good. Read more

Rude!! Non-accepting. Awful customer service. Worst coffee shop experience of my life!! My friends all ordered expensive coffees... (which I paid for) and I had a water. We quietly sat down at a table together and they worked on their laptops. The older ladymarched directly to our table after we had been there ten minutes and handed me a menu, telling me accusingly that I shouldorder if I was going to be sitting there, that ?most people order if they are even going to be in here!? as she stared me down.I felt so unwelcomed that I left to go for a walk instead of being able to spend time with my friends, as I couldn?t evenconcentrate on my writing. As I left the guy behind the counter just glared at me. I was visiting Portland for the weekend fromout of state. This was a terrible experience!! Read more

I brought a small group of middle schoolers there on an off-school day to meet up and discuss books. The place was *empty*... except for two other customers (and now I know why). I went up to the counter to buy a warm drink and pastry and the personworking there said I needed to buy something for everyone. I answered that they didn?t want anything (one of the group hadalready offered to buy for the rest) but that I?d buy my own kid a drink. He replied ?Everyone has to make a purchase. Thisisn?t a daycare.? I said, stunned, ?I?m not asking you to care for them?? He interrupted ?When you?re taking up THAT much room, especially. Everyone has to buy something.? We were a party of 5 at a single table. In an EMPTY cafe. Absurd. We left withoutmaking a purchase. As many reviewers have said, I understand needing to pay your bills as well as the idea of respecting thefact that it is a cafe and not a free meeting space.i had approached the counter intending to respect that idea. Plus, it?s alocal place that we?ve always found pleasant, if a little over-priced. But isn?t there a much nicer way of reminding yourcustomers of that concept. Especially a customer who is AT the counter ordering something? ?This isn?t a daycare.? Wow. I hadn?tleft the kids (who were 12-13, btw) there on their own. They were quiet and well-behaved *discussing reading* and school on anoff-school day, at a local (did I mention EMPTY?) business in their neighborhood. Well, this place has lost me and my entirefamily as customers for life. I will never go to or recommend this once lovely, inviting cafe that has devolved into a rudehaven for snobs and mediocre food. The worst customer service mentality I have ever experienced. Shame on them. I won?t be atall surprised when they shut down. Read more

Beautiful coffee shop and location, a long favorite of mine. I used to love to come here a couple years ago for their vegan... dessert options. After moving back to Portland, I went today and not a single option was there :( Read more
