A truly magnificent dining experience. My friend took me here to for my birthday dinner while we were celebrating in Portland. ... The restaurant was referred to her by a close friend who lives in Portland. From the moment we arrived until we completed ourmeal and left everything was amazing. We had drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. It's a cozy space off therestaurant. The bartender was friendly made our drinks just so. She also took the time to explain the menu and give us a fewrecommendations. Once we were seated our waiter explained the menu, and we ordered. The starter course was a cold soup. Itwas delicious and just the right amount to prepare for the evening. Every course was just so amazing we could hardly containourselves. The menu encourages family style so we ordered the baguette which they serve with chimichurri sauce, clam chowder(made with bone marrow and fresh clams in shell), Dungeness crab bruschetta, short ribs, and a heirloom tomato salad. Even withsharing the portion sizes are large and we were almost full toward the end but we had to save room for dessert. We ordered thewarm hazelnut torte and it was warm, gooey and delicious. The perfect end to the meal. Our waiter and every staff member wecame in contact with was warm, helpful and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and meal. Read more

First off, Ox has a private parking lot... that is a huge plus considering the restaurant is on an arterial road. Staff was... professional, attentive, friendly and efficient. We had outdoor seating and it was fantastic. The food... simply,delectable. There was not one dish we didn't like or love, every dish was incredibly well prepared and tasty. The spicy beefempanada was perfect to start off the palate. I didn't get to taste the oysters but, everyone else loved it. The clam chowderwas topped with a bone with delicious marrow... different for me but, I loved it. I'm very glad I ordered the maplle-brined porkchops because it was absolutely delicious. Took me several visit to Portland to secure a table in this popular restaurant but it?s totally worth it. Superb BBQ meat... certainly makes a great enjoyment to your taste buds. Appetizers were also impressive. Highlight was the clam chowder with bonemarrow. Rich broth and the fancy marrow made the dish just heavenly. Staff was very helpful and attentive. Ox is a high end dining experience with rich and flavorful foods. Whether vegetables or meats it?s an elevated preparation... curated to satisfy. Must haves are the cheese empanada. The fresh clam chowder with smoked bone marrow is a unique and taste budpleasing combination. The beef skirt steak, rib eye, and out of this world grilled Alaskan halibut are sure fire hits. The mapleglazed heirloom carrots with pistachios are a must side dish. The fried russet potatoes are excellent as well. This was my first experience at OX and I couldnt of been more blown away. The atmosphere was beautiful, the open air grill was... a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We knew that we loved the food at Ox from many wonderful dinners- but true and abiding adoration occurred when we had my... daughter?s wedding at Ox. Every bite, every detail, every interaction was perfect. Chef/owners Gabi and Greg and the entire Oxteam are not only highly skilled professionals but incredibly warm and attentive hosts. The entire event went off without ahitch because of their attention to detail and determination to serve up not only a delicious dinner but a memorable wedding.Many of our guests exclaimed that it was the best meal of their lives. My first experience was their NYE dinner, which was absolutely amazing. The ribeye was perfect and I'm a tough critic. Every... dish, on or off menu, was a delight. Probably the most I've ever spent on a meal ($450 post-tip) and I don't have a singleregret. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. The staff and service was impressive. They never missed a moment and neverintruded...the perfect balance. We sat at the "bar" and were warmed by the fire all night. We watched the magic of the ladiesmastering the meats and fire during our conversation and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I am excited to return for regularservice.
