The food was tasty and reasonably priced. We ordered guacamole and chips. I?m still trying to understand why they don?t serve... their chips warm. We also ordered the hongos en salsa roja. The oyster mushrooms and spinach were a tasty combination. Weordered fried fish tacos and a mestizo salad bowl with shrimp for our meals. It was odd that the tacos were served at thebeginning with guacamole, and the salad was served at the end. All gluten-free! Read more

This place was delicious and exciting. Ordered the empanadas, elote, coconut ceviche, and blossom flower tacos. All were great... to be shared and enjoyed by two people. There was some mishaps during our time there like mixed up drink order and a littlelonger wait on food but the customer service was attentive and very apologetic. It can be very loud with the music and how busyit gets inside so be prepared to speaking loudly. Overall a solid choice. Read more

The food was colorful and flavorful. Both my husband and I loved the Beyond Meat empanadas and the fish tacos. Loved that they... were gluten free. The mezcal cocktails were delicious too. Read more

I did not expect to enjoy the food as much as I did! We got the beyond meat empanadas and banana flower tacos and they were *so... delicious.* my favorite part was the La sonrisa drinks. The elote was also delicious. The chips and guacamole was good, butgeneric, so I would recommend the Yuca fries instead. Really good food Read more

The atmosphere at mestizo is awesome! I love the decor, bar and dining area in general. I think the restaurant is quite cozy and... it?s fun to sit inside the restaurant and chill. However I think the food is pretty overpriced and the quality is very mediocre.I think if the menu had something new to offer and the food lived up to the price and decor this place would be highlyrecommended. I stumbled across Mestizo online and as soon as I saw the menu, I knew I had to try this place. I was not at all disappointed.... The food was absolutely DIVINE. Mestizo is not a vegan or even vegetarian restaurant, but they have a lot of veganoptions. Everything we ordered was vegan. For appetizers, my friend and I had yucca fries (so crispy!), empanadas filled withBeyond Burger, and chifles (fried plantains). The empanadas were crispy, flavorful, and the best I've ever eaten. For the maindish, my friend got a rice and bean bowl with mushrooms and other yummies (she dug into it before I had a chance to get a goodphoto) , and I got the banana flower tacos - Three Sisters tortillas, banana flower, slaw, orange habanero sauce, and coconutcream. Despite what another reviewer said, THEY DO NOT CONTAIN FISH. They are 100% vegan. I had avocado added. They tacos werebig and flavorful, the banana flowers crispy, and the habanero sauce wasn't over-powering. Everything was beyond delicious andthe service was friendly and prompt. Since it was only noon, I skipped the fancy cocktails that I would have enjoyed. Please goeat some delicious food here so this place doesn't close like so many other restaurants in Portland. I will most definitely beback! Read more
