The place is okay. The food was good. The waitress was really cute. Good service The place was fun to be at. Parking downtown is... miserable doing anything downtown is miserable. Got to pay to park walk 5 mi to get where you're going after you drive 5 mi toget there. I go there if I happen to be hanging out downtown one evening but I wouldn't drive there myself specifically. Absolutely enjoyed my experience at the Blue Moon Tavern. Wait staff is exceptional, food is delicious! My favorite brew I tried... was the Ruby, 10/10 would suggest to everyone looking for fantastic food, great atmosphere and a selection of drinks that are tothe moon! Read more

The Halloween costume party bar crawl was amazing. We had a fantastic time with Brian and Devon our pantomime bartenders. They... have worked together for years and it shows. Cared for every customer and made sure they backed each other up all night. Wewere lucky enough to sit at the bar with them and watched them work hard to make all the yummy drinks. I highly recommend thepop rock Jell-O shots. They are fantastic. blue was our favorites. The spiced rum and cokes were great too. Included are somephots and video from our visit. My wife and I hosted a Welcome Party here for the weekend of our weekend and we had an amazing time! The staff at McMenamins... we're great at accommodating a large group. They promptly got out our (delicious!) large order of appetizers and smoothly servedall of our friends at the bar. The pop-rock jello shot was a huge hit and the atmosphere was inviting and relaxed. Everything was great. Our server Bryan B was exceptional. We had two at times hard to please young girls with us 4 and 2 years... old. I would highly recommend this place. Delicious house brews. Terminator stout satisfies deeply, chocolatey savory goodness. Ruby Ale tastes like somehow a whole... summer's raspberry harvest was tucked into a single glass. The salmon burger was also out of this world... and the sweet potatofries? Perfection! Crisp on the outside and smoothe as butter on the inside. Blue Moon knocks it out of the park! Read more

My rating is based mostly on service and ambiance. Service was pretty slow all around, and out of 4 people drinking coffee, when... one person asked for more coffee they were brought another cup and the rest of us sat with empty cups. We took some friends hereas their first time to a McMenamins- For ambiance I had really expected more from McMenamins- all of the other locations I?vebeen too have a bright and eclectic feel to them- but the seating area for dining in this place was super dark with orangelighting, giving it a dungeon-like feel even during a rainy day/evening. I get that low light is it?s own trendy thing, but Ithink it was dialed up too much or not done very well here. It seems more to cover that there isn?t a lot that is visuallyappealing at this location. There were a few artsy light fixtures in the bar area, which doesn?t help the general seating area,and the only place where there was some light was over the pool tables. Music was really too loud for a restaurant and very bassheavy. I had found this location specifically looking for a restaurant with a fireplace on a very rain Portland evening, but thefireplace had no fire; understandable, but disappointing. Food was good to average, but in a place like Portland where you canthrow a stone and hit 10 restaurants with amazing food, you need something more- and I had expected a much better atmospherefrom the McMenamins brand.
